Just looking for some more recent opinions of Canidae/Felidae foods.  Right now, my cats are on Nutro Max, dry and wet.  They're about 8 and 11 years and each get a 3oz can a day and we free-feed the dry (neither one is overweight, and other than the stomatitis that they were adopted with, they're in good health.)  I've heard amazing things about Canidae/Felidae, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra cost.

With healthier food, do you feed the same quantity?  I thought I heard that sometimes they don't need as much when it's better quality, and also less as they get older.

I got a bad batch of Canidae canned once.  Even good foods can have production problems.  Made my mama cat and babies very sick but cured quickly with AMFORAL from the vet.

My advice would be "iif it's workin', don't fix it."  Your cats are doing fine on the food you are feeding them, so why change?

And as to feeding LESS of a good quality food, have no idea where you might have heard that.  It's based on calories, and some of the "better" foods actually have a hole lot less calories than some of the "lesser quality" foods.  So...

BTW, I bought a can of Canidae, and NONE of mine would eat it

Our cats didn't like Canidae's wet food, either: they looked at me like I was crazy to even try to get them to eat it. That was their new formula. Their old formula, which we fed to our previous cat in late 2013, was juicier and even Brooksie, who was very sick and hesitant to eat, would eat decent portions.

I feed my cat Canidae (he only likes the Grain free chicken one) sometimes.  He is very picky (only likes a couple flavors of 3 diff brands), but likes it as long as I don't give it to him every day.  I buy the 13 oz cans, which makes it a lot less expensive (about $2.25 for 13 oz).  I came across it when I was trying to find an affordable yet higher quality food for him (he can only have wet, and only likes Friskies pate & Iams flaked).

No, the "quality" does not change what quantity you feed.  I feed my cat the same amount of calories per day.
