Winchester's thread about the pot roast got me thinking about this.

Kraft Mac and Cheese is a biggie. That was a staple growing up as were all of the Chef Boyardee cans. Pizza from an Appian Way mix. My mother used to occasionally make chocolate cupcakes that she filled with real whipped cream. That was a huge treat. Fun Dip and Pop Rocks are two candies. I grew up across from a little league baseball field and we would go get candy during the game.

My grandmother's hot slaw or lasagna, my mother's rice pudding and pot pies, my father's waffles or fudge, and my grandfather's vegetable soup. All the Christmas cookies my brother and I baked every year, too.

Mom's fried chicken and hot milk sponge cake.

Apple beer (it's just a soft drink....haven't seen it in years).

Kickapoo Joy Juice (soda).

Mountain pies (mmmmm, apple mountain pies are to die for!, with pizza ones a very close second).

Grandma's apple dumplings and peach dumplings.

Mom's black walnut taffy (I hated the stuff then and still do, but it wasn't Christmas without it).

Green beans with butter and breadcrumbs!  My Gram served those a lot with weeknight dinners.  My kids eat beans up fast that way too!  Also buttered eggnoodles.  They were usually on the side of a roast; but they never needed gravy!

ABC noodles with butter and ketchup is still a fav!  Any tiny pasta will do for it. That was my favorite lunch and it's still a nice comfort food.  Gram, Mom and I all love that one!  People have made faces when I tell them about it.  I say don't knock it till you've tried it!

It's good!  Especially if you like vinegar.  But the butter makes a richer flavor; it's not like eating straight ketchup!

The noodles also good with butter and parmasean cheese (no ketchup).
