How do you use the site?

I'm curious. :lol3:

Do you use subscriptions to keep up on threads? Do you visit certain forums first? Do you use "New posts" so you don't miss out on anything? What are your favorite forums?



I normally answer Private messages first, then will go through and take care of Mod business. After that I go through my assigned Mod forums - Cat's Meow, New Cats and The Lounge. I'll then hit New Posts to see if anything looks interesting. If I have time (and it has been scarce lately!) I try to go through and reply to some threads in the Lounge.

I use subscriptions and check those and private messages first. After that I generally go to New Posts. I flick though articles and reviews sometimes too. I wouldn't say I have a favourite forum, but I seem to spend more time in Behaviour and Nutrition forums than some of the others. I'm in the Lounge a bit too...I love the 'motivation' threads and the games can be fun.

I almost exclusively use the mobile version of the site on my smartphone - I don't have a laptop, and the computer chair really isn't very comfortable...not to mention that there's usually someone else in it :lol3:

I get emails for several forums and PMs, so I read them before logging in, replying and attending to mod stuff. Then I check "new posts". My favorite forums are IMO and Behavior, and I consider Crossing the Bridge a must because so many members understandably avoid it. The Lounge is fun when I have time.

@Columbine   I am very impressed you can post from a phone!   I struggle to text with a little keyboard never mind manage TCS threads and posts!

I use a lap top here and hope Mouse doesn't walk across or sit on the keyboard too often.   I get updates for subscribed threads so I can see a bit of what's going on without logging in because once I am in time seems to warp and I'll emerge hours later.  

Depending on how the day is going I might check PMs first but usually try to catch up on subscribed threads first, update and do anything I need to for moderator stuff and then PMs.  Then I'll carry on keeping up with subscribed threads while I check out New Posts and moderator business - which for me includes Nutrition and Pregnant Cats and Kitten care amongst others.  The home page is something I  like to check out every day, to see what's featured and any new articles which have been published.  I also like to check Behaviour out when I can, and occasionally health.  If I have time I have a look at Crossing the Bridge and photo areas like Caption This.   I find The Lounge and photo areas of the site a nice balance when there's been a lot of sad or stressful things around on site but I don't always have a lot of time to spend there. 

:lol3: mservant I guess I'm just used to using my phone now. I have small hands, which does help I think. I actually find it weird using a 'proper' computer now. I'm so used to predictive text...even if it does trip me up and cause amusing/embarrassing mistakes from time to time.

When I was a Mod, the first thing I did was check emails and such for Mod-related things. Attend Mod stuff, then hit the Lounge for a while and various other forums.

Now I just come in and hit the Lounge before work. I do try to go to various other forums as well.

I am bad about PMs. I see them and I read them. But then I get caught in something else and forget to respond.

I have posted a few ridiculous things on here from my Ipad! :lol3:

I use subscriptions also and check those first. then I check new posts. especially pictures. Although they aren't my favorite, I do read a lot of the new posts from crossing the bridge to offer some comfort. then I go back to the pictures. those always cheer me up again 


Miss Lilith wasn't happy that I disturbed her beauty rest.
