#4, 5 went fine. #6 seemed to stall and Mama knew something was wrong...because when it was born she didn't lick it or anything. So I put him in aside and changed her bedding. #7 came out but the placenta didn't.... So the kitten was just hanging even after she cleaned and licked him. So I used dental floss and cut the cord. How long until I need to worry that the placenta hasn't come out?
She will hopefully expel it with a contraction soon. You can massage her belly to help. It must come out (and probably will) or infection can set in. She may need a breather first.
Did you try to open the sac and clear #7's face to see if it was okay? Mama may have been tired.
Placenta out. Thank goodness. 8 kittens but 2 of them stillborn. She seems like such a small, little cat, very young to have such a brood. Way to go, Mama Cow.
If a kitten came out with its placenta before the other placenta...does that mean that everything is okay? Or could the one placenta still be inside her?
Yes, #6 was the kitten that seemed to stall at the head. And after it came out Mama just walked away from it. so I broke the sac and rub its little face but it never moved. It's paw was up by its face so I wonder if it's elbow didn't make it harder to push out.
