If I read the thread correctly the mommy has 5 week old kittens. The kittens will be starting to be weaned, This process will take about 3 to 4 more weeks. The mommy could be happy that her kittens are starting to wean. Have you been supplementing the kittens with wet food also?

OK thanks for the update I got the dates from your first post that stated 4 weeks and that was 1 week ago. Thanks for the correction. The babies need a warm bed and need to stay warm. If mommy is staying with the babies place a hot pad on low at one end of the box if you feel the kittens and they are cold or cool to the touch. If the mommy is leaving the kittens a lot then you will have to make sure they are gaining weight. How much does the mommy weigh but when she is feeding kittens then she should have unlimited amounts of food water. just watch the kittens to make sure she is not forgetting them.

If you have a local vet that has been informed about this cat You might call them if she seems not to want to settle down. She could also be happy not to be pregnant and is glad of the freedom so kicking it up.

Lucky you! My cat did the EXACT same thing!

I moved them back to her nest, and not 5 minutes later she put them back in my bedroom. So I let them stay. Plugged in the night light because I was afraid of stepping on one too.

She is beginning the socialization process. Wants you to love and feed her babies when they are ready. Wants babies to love and know you. It's a great sign of trust on mama cat's part. You get to listen to the sounds of nursing now! And eventually you'll have little kittens climbing your quilt to play on your bed! Cheers! :)

I think that if the mommy moved the kittens because you handled them then she would have moved then further from your room not closer. Normally they are moved when the mommy is either looking for a safer place or a place that the kittens can be corralled. I got in the habit of making sure when I walked around at night that I would only raise my foot a inch or so off the floor when I walked. As the kittens get more active you will have to train the kittens to watch out for you. I normally walk around at night or in the dark with out my shoes on so I can feel the cat/kitten under my foot before I put my full weight on it. After a few times the kitten will learn that walking under a human's foot causes pain and they will stay out of your way.

House cats generally move them closer to their favorite human out of love for you! :)

As stated you have been given an honor to have the kittens moved so close to your bed.

Good grief! Whatever is your cat thinking now?

Put them in a safe place and close the door so she can't move them. Maybe that will cure her. I thought they'd be happy under your bed.

You can put them in the bathroom for now if you need to if no one can supervise mama.

Do not allow this. Put her somewhere sensible and close her in. There is no point to this. This is not good for the kittens!
