Is it safe to use Neosporin to help heal my boy's surgical incision? He has malignant melanoma, and his most recent surgery was three weeks ago.  Stitches are out, but healing is slow due to radiation therapy he received (in the same area of his neck) earlier this year.  He won't see the veterinary oncologist until June 30. Anyone have any insight on what to use to help my kitty's incision heal faster?  Thanks you in advance.

I would ring the vet in the morning to see what they recommend you use. Cats tend to lick everything we put on them, so you want to use something that is not harmful if swallowed.

It is normally ok to use neosporin on cats even though they will lick it off, however, in the case of who probably has an immune issue due to the cancer, I'm thinking it probably IS a good idea to check with your Vet first.  Another think many people here use of Colloidal Silver for wound healing

Best of luck with your little one.  Hope the radiation therapy worked

...with the cats...
another option may be plain petroleum jelly which is safe for cats to lick off and ingest, but do check with your vet first just to be sure.

i use petroleum jelly with my cats to help with hairballs, because snick doesn't like the malt flavoring in some hairball remedies. the petroleum jelly was recommended by our vet, as it's 'the same thing as hairball remedy, but without the flavoring' per the vet.
