Hello fellow cat lovers! So, my situation is I have been feeding and housing my neighbors cat. He is not neutered and I took him to the vet a few weeks ago after he showed up very ill with a nasty abscess and 105 fever. When it comes to cats I am a sucker. Well he is sick again with drooling and has a hard time eating hard food but gobbles up can food. He is sleeping a lot  too. Okay, this is not my cat and he needs medical care and to be neutered. Should I bring him home and knock on their door and tell them he is sick. Or do I just assume they don't care about him and make him mine. I don't mind taking care of him but what if something happens and the kitty dies! I don't want to take someone else's cat or to have them blame me if something happens! What would you do? Why can't people take care of their Pets? Grrrr!

That is a tough one and one that unfortunately happens a lot.  Are you  on good terms with, or at least speaking terms with your neighbor?  If so I would tell them that he is sick and needs to be seen by a vet.  If they blow you have then ask if you  could take him to the vet.  I bet they would be fine with it if they aren't paying.  Once he is well I would just have him neutered.  Don't mention it and I bet the neighbors don't even notice.  That will stop a lot of the things like abscesses.

I agree. I'd bring it to their attention and if they didn't do anything or seem to care, I'd take him to the vet. I'd have him neutered, too. Once it's done, it's done. The cat would be better off. They might not be happy about it but too bad for them. You're very sweet for caring about this little guy
