Hopefully you can catch it quickly.  I had a feral once who would eat the peanuts my neighbor put out for the birds and squirrels.  So sad.

Best of luck!

Thanks, this will be my first attempt alone. I might call on my old friend who trapped the rest if he is still in business. It is hard to tell if she is young or tiny. She has the smallest face and shortest legs I have seen on a cat without being munchkin. She is starving ate two cans of fancy feast in 5 minutes. I put flea meds for eggs and fleas in her food. She is not a beauty for sure very pointy features, maybe some Siamese in her background. She looks raggedy is that more a sign of a stray than feral?

If she is really hungry, it should be fairly easy to trap her.  You can watch some videos on Alley Cat Allies or do a youtube search.  I hope it all goes well.

Will a vet take a feral in a trap and spay her and let her stay until healed or not? Last time trapper kept her for a week before bringing her back!

I use a low cost spay/neuter clinic that doesn't require an appointment for ferals as long as they are in a trap.  I drop off in the morning and then pick up in the late afternoon.  The instructions I am giving say to keep a female 24-48 hours before releasing.  It just depends.  Males can be released the next morning.  I know some people transfer the female to a large dog cage as it's hard to feed in a trap if you don't have a divider.

Call your vet and ask if they take ferals.  Some do some don't.  Mine will take a feral, but charge me $200.  The low cost clinic is $45.

I ask about females healing after spay to the head of our local TNR organization.  She says she has only lost one female cat after spaying and it was one that they were trying to keep until she healed.  They held her in a garage and she ripped open her incision trying to escape.  After that, she has released all females immediately after spaying and none of them had to be trapped again to go to the vet.  If you are going to keep her to heal after spay the large dog crate is a better option than holding them somewhere where they can injure themselves.

I just learned that vet who trapped and spayed for me, no longer has a practice, since he was robbed and assaulted. He sustained head trauma and is now in a rehab facility, how sad. What is wrong with people? I guess I am trapping alone

My trap just arrived, too tired to put together. I thought I would put food closer to house and watch for cat, I fell asleep and food is gone? Oh well![emoji]128576[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji] I will never know who ate it!
