Hi All,

So, in February I found a stray cat on the side of the road. Snickers is a 4 year old short haired siamese female.  I brought her home and made an appointment for her at our local low cost vet clinic and animal shelter and they said they she was not microchipped, not spayed, and needed some vaccines. I made an appointment for her to be spayed. I took her in and around two o'clock the vet called my fiancé and said they shaved her and they now see a spay scar. So, we didn't have her spayed... I told the vet that every once in a while she would meow all night long and rub up against me. He said it was because she was used to being an outside cat and I wouldn't let her out. Well... in April she got out and was gone for three days. and ever since then I have let her come and go as she pleases. But, her stomach started getting very big, her nipples have gotten pink and swollen and two weeks ago I was rubbing her belly and felt a ton of kicking. I then made an appointment at the same vet and took her in. The vet said she is definitely really pregnant and they don't know why she would have a scar that looks similar to a spay scar. Has anyone every experienced this? The vet said I shouldn't be worried and that she is perfectly healthy, but I'm scared that since there was confusion about whether she was spayed that there could be complications with her labor.

Please let me know if you have any information or comforting words.

That's quite a surprise!  Another member took her male cat to Petco to be neutered but suspects it didn't take due to the litter of tuxedo kittens born to her female cat.

I don't know how often it happens, but she was clearly prepped for surgery and a tech marked her as spayed, and she was never given the actual surgery. It was a gross oversight.

Now she is pregnant and expecting kittens! Surprise! She is likely getting very close to her due date, since she was out in mid-April and it's now mid-June. Pregnancy is about 65 days for cats, and you have felt the babies move already. When she "drops", you will no longer feel the babies moving as she prepares for birth.

Have you set up a couple of nesting areas for her? Are you giving her unlimited kitten chow and wet food for optimal nutrition?

We have lots of great articles and links on this site to help you prepare, and of course we are here to answer your questions!

Let us know how it's going, and welcome! :)
