* Chocolate is a vegetable. How, you ask? Chocolate is derived from coca beans. Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.

* To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.

* Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

* The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the parking lot.

* Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite, and you'll eat less. If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.

* If you eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, the calories actually counteract each other.

* Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger. Therefore, you need to eat more chocolate.

* Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Now, isn't that handy?

* If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you? If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated. You can't let that happen

Don't know if you have read this, thought it was amusing. Received it in an email.

Saw the word chocolate and had to jump right to this thread. It is my favorite food -(next to corn on the cob) and I think it should be granted its own food group status!
This was really cute - I totally agree!

I always believed that chocolate was in one of the basic food groups. Now you just proved it! Thank you.

I am a true chocoholic and proud of it.

I think just the word chocolate makes my mouth water. I read on a label that chocolate had no fat. It mush be all the added ingredients that put chocolate in the no no gategory. Chocolate popcorn really sounds good. We used to eat popcorn with a chocolate candy bar. Another thing that goes good with chocolate is an apple. Yum Yum.:flash:

Debra; You can get chocolate popcorn from a company called "Kettle Korn" It originated in the Ozarks of Mo. and they have all types of flavored and caramel and molasses popcorn. They are "Out of this World" "Sinfully Good". It is sold at speciality stores here in St. Louis and at their headquarters in Branson, MO. I don't know if they have a web site, but I will try to find out. I know that they do ship some varieties of their popcorn, but not in the summer months.

They have a variety of corn called "Heavenly Hash". It is caramel popcorn with almonds and mini mashmellows all covered in dark or milk chocolate. It is better than SEX!!! They don't even make it until after Oct. bcause of the heat effect on the chocolate. It is NOT cheap (about $10 for an 8oz. bag) BUT some things are "Just worth the price".

Believe it or not I had just finished a big ole bowl of chocolate ice cream when I came onto the Cat Site....what a coincidence.
It's at the top of my food list. Good thread!
