When my female had a UTI, within 24 hours of treatment she was back to normal, but it may depend on what treatment your girl received. (and the cat
)

If those drops are caused by a urinary tract infection, they should stop within a day or two of starting treatment with antibiotics.  If they're caused by something else, they'll continue.

Thank you so much for responding. They put Minky on a liquid antibiotic. (BTW giving her the meds is NO FUN at all! LOL)
Hopefully the drops are from the UTI and not something worse, but she has a follow up in two weeks to make sure everything is ok and that the urine drops have stopped and if they haven't I guess we will go from there. She has only had three doses of the meds and she seems so much better. Hungry, Thirsty, and a lot of Energy. This is my first experience with a feline UTI.
Thank you guys again....

My 3 yr old female cat, Merri started peeing outside litter box and I took her to vet.

They did urine sample and  blood work and gave me liquid anti-biotic called Orbax..

I agree with MiniPaine, it is hell giving her the medicine.. They told me to wrap her up

in a towel, but I scruff her back of her neck like momma cats do when they carry them.

I have given her two doses and am dreading the next one today.  I DID see a small use

of litter box, but was only a small patch of urine but at least not on furniture...Supposed to

hear results of test today.. Praying she is ok, I spent 407 dollars so far, don't have much money

and afraid what happen if I can't afford expensive treatment!  Her eyes seem brighter, but i don't see

her drinking much water, she likes to drink out of aquarium and I googled that and people said their

cats do that and have had no problems... I must get one of those running water stations.

Do you feed her dry food, or wet?  If not wet, then perhaps you can try to convert her over to an all wet diet.  That should help, although I wouldn't try to do that NOW, while she's already stressed out by having this issue (unless you know that she LIKES wet food).  And there are some inexpensive wet foods out there.  Even the friskies PATES are a decent food, but Fancy Feast CLASSICS, or the SHEBA Pates are better as far as inexpensive foods go.

Does she like to drink from the faucet?  If not, a fountain might not help.  I have one, and only  my cat that used to drink from the faucet uses it
.  The other two don't have a clue
.  However, all mine eat wet food only, PLUS I add water to their wet food, so they probably don't ever get thirsty.

Thank you for your reply.  Thank God she seems really healthy now.  Yesterday morning was the fourth morning after her 3 dose of Orbax.. this morning (the fifth morning after 4 doses) she is frisky as hell, eating like a pig-- I feed her wet and dry food and treats and one Fancy Feast Broths which she LOVES.  I have had to experiment which wet food she likes.. the Pate's she will sniff, lick and ignore.. She likes those Elegant Medleys from Fancy Feast.. Tuna Florentine and Chicken "somthing or other" with greens and gravy.. Gravy Lovers beef sparingly.. I bought some expensive Blue Buffalo small cans and she didn't like it.  Fancy Feast hard food.

I think this whole problem stemmed from a dirty litter box. I have had her since Jan 30th 2015 and I only scooped up until this happened  about 14 days ago... I have LEARNED to more scrupulous in my cleaning.. I will COMPLETELY clean it every 2 to 3 weeks... Poor thing ,  no wonder she didn't want to go in there! And she probably got infection from there... I have never had a completely indoor cat before, so of course litter box would get nastier.  I find that a completely indoor cat is a  little sad..when I go out to water plants or sit in back yard, I can see  her in window watching me... I really want to  let her come outside and smell grass and do a little running and butterfly chasing!!

I may gradually try to bring her out either tethered or untethered.. would LOVE her company lying next to me as I sit in back yard.  My heart kind of breaks to see her there in the window.

Just a coincidence that I found you, having just taken one of my cats to the vets and as usual, I am disturbed by the prescribing of Fluoroquinolones, Orbax is one of several, they are POISON, plain and simple... PLEASE search "Fluoroquinolone Toxicity" and if you are on FB, do the same there too!!  PET OWNERS NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN PHARMA AND IT ISN'T PRETTY, IT'S DOWNRIGHT CRIMINAL!!  I have "NO FLUOROQUINOLONES" on ALL my family's (including PETS) medical records!!  Please search the WIKI article, QUINOLONES!!  There is a VETERINARY LIST at the bottom of that page, DO NOT ALLOW ANY OF YOUR PETS TO BE TREATED W/ ANY FLUOROQUINOLONE!!  EVER!!  In "research" Beagle puppies became lame and had to be euthanized...  they damage DNA and are toxic to healthy cells.  They also cause blindness in cats but affect every bodily system....

You are absolutely right about keeping the litter box clean. No cat likes to use a dirty box - they are naturally very clean animals, apart from the danger of infection, flies etc. My boxes ( I have multiple cats) get scooped twice a day and washed out thoroughly every week with disinfectant. I also use an enzymatic liquid cleaner on the tiled floor to remove any traces that may cling to paws.

I am glad she is feeling better!

I have a female 7 year old cat with UTI at this time. she was also diagnosed with FIV (Feline Immune Deficiency). it has been 30 days since it all started. Doctor said that under normal circumstances  after taking an urine sample one round of antibiotics should fix the infection. First he gave her an antibiotic shot that was suppose to work .he said for two weeks.  it worked for two days, the third day she started feeling bad again. so I called the vet and they prescribed another kind of antibiotic Zeniquin 25 mg for 14 days.(it is suppose to be one of the strongest in the market)  It all happened again, she recovered and then  the fourth day  she started feeling bad again. Called the vet again and he said to finish the antibiotic a wait to see what happens. It did not work. so what next???? the vet suggested to "try" another antibiotic. NOOOO. Do not do it. why to spend more money if it might not work and my cat is going to still feel miserable . So   today I took her back so they can obtain an urine sample for a culture ( two weeks to obtain the results)  to determine what kind of antibiotic responds better to the bacteria she carries. Since she has FIV the antibiotic will take longer to work and should for sure cure my little one. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I hope this message helps those who are so desperate to make the little ones feel good.

PS. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar and did not do help at all.
