Yesterday when I was on my way to work, I got into an accident.  I was just down the street from home. I looked away, or down for a split second, I don't even remember why now, adjusting the air or something, wish I could remember, but I don't. As soon as I looked up, I thought the car in front of me was just starting to break, but realized he was stopped. I had put on my breaks, but it was too late, & BAM!!   It really does happen in a split second, SO fast, like they say it does. I hit the back of a Honda CRV.  Fortunately, no one was hurt, & his car only had a slight scratch on the black part of his bumper. He said a car in front of him had stopped short & turned. He was a very nice older man, & was so glad he wasn't hurt!   I felt to bad because even though someone stopped short, & it was a chain reaction, I am at fault, because I was in the back, the one who hit.

I am so glad you weren't hurt.  Yea distracted driving is a major issue.  People tend to always just think about texting but anything that distracts a driver is dangerous.  Imagine something like this happening on a freeway.  I know people don't usually stop on a freeway but there are those who do 40 in a lane other than the slower right hand lane.  Going freeway speed someone can come up on a slow car fast before realizing they are moving slow.

I too am delighted that you were not hurt.  If your car is going to be repaired, make sure that you find out whether the frame has been bent or not.  If it has, you will have problems later on.

Oh Kelly, you poor thing. Didn't you just get the car early last year? I hope you don't run into more rotten luck from now.:cross:

I am glad you and other driver were not hurt. I'm also glad it wasn't far more tragic. I suppose cars are all really aluminum and plastic mostly now, as you say his car wasn't badly damaged yet yours looks almost totaled on the front.

The main thing is nobody was hurt, but it's a shame about the damage to your car (and the scare you got, too).

I'm so glad you weren't hurt! I hope your car gets fixed up OK. When I had my accident years ago (old guy ran a red light) our car was written off by the insurance company. We could still get it fixed though and it did us well for another couple of years afterward.

I'm glad that you are ok. Hope the repairs can be made without any problems. Make sure it is done right.

Thanks everyone!  No, the frame wasn't bent, or it would have been totaled.

Cory, Thanks.  Almost, March 3rd was a year that i've had it.

Today, the guy at the shop said it will probably be ready in less than 2 weeks!  I'm so grateful that my brother-in-law knew him & talked to him for me. (his company uses them for any damage to their trucks).

I've only been a little sore this week, but tomorrow, I have my once a month house (one of the ones that takes me 4 hrs,) so I'm sure I'll be a little more tomorrow. I had an easier one today, so I came home & did some cleaning here, so I can just relax tomorrow & all weekend. (w/ the exception of some laundry at some point).

I haven't taken anything since last night, so I think I'm going to do that now, & get the cold packs out.  I've also been putting arnica on!

Dear Kelly

I am so sorry for your stress and the car accident

I know you were not texting or on the phone in your accident..

this gives me a chance to bring a thought to all that read your post..

 if a person would

realize an  accident can happen, lives can be lost

others can be killed by the person who is on the phone

or texting

while driving a  car/  it can happen .in a split second...

it would prevent tragedies...

I always think if I were on the phone in the car

and hit someone because I was distracted

what if the person I hit had to go to a nursing home

and live in that environment every day for years

and years.

I just wanted to share that with the readers on here today

and surely someone will get mad but perhaps someone

can pull off the road and prevent someone being maimed for

life or killed...

Sheri

Thank you Sheri, &  Yes you are absolutely right!!

@Boris Diamond, Thank you.  I have felt better in the last couple of days. Praising God, because it could have been so much worse!  I only had to take ibuprofen, or Aleve for a few days, as well as stayed on top of icing with cold packs, just for safe measure, & using lots of Arnica gel!!
