My cat mitsy I think is 53 days pregnant however she did mate once a week before so possibly 63? Anyway I took her to the vets yesterday and he said everything looks perfect, I ask when he thinks she will have them and he said any day and that they will come early if there ready to?? Which is kinda scary coz I don't want them to early as they might die. Mitsy is always laying down eating well very large and belly goes very hard over last couple days. I looked today and there's a red tinge near her area so not sure if she has lost her mucus plug but she can't reach her area as go anymore so any advice or opinions please. Thanks x

She certainly sounds like she is very near her time! Have you noticed if her vulva is dilating, or seen any discharge back there? Is her belly rippling at all? When you begin to see these signs she is very close. I agree with your vet - probably any day now!

Have you set up nesting areas for her? Giving her lots of kitten chow, wet food, and water? She needs extra nutrition now while she is pregnant and when she is nursing!

Keep us posted! :)

Dilating means if her vulva - that's the opening under her anus - is opening up wider.

Rippling means constant contractions - not just babies moving.

She is very sleek and beautiful looking! She may have a few days left. Just be on the lookout for the signs.

If she looks slimmer it may be because the babies have dropped into the birth canal in preparation to be born soon. Her vulva will need to open all the way. The wet you see is discharge. She is very, very close. I'd guess a day or two at most. But, it's not an exact science! :)

So she had two different matings, and may have conceived from any of them.   Our guess at this moment is, alredy the first had "taken".

In such cases, when unsure, day 53  or  60, is to go after how long you had felt the kitten move.  Two, or max almost 3 weeks before the expected delivery.

So, ad you felt them move over 2 weeks now??

a week before is 60, not 63, its prob why the vet said it will be a somewhat early.   Anyway, to be somewaht extra prepared  IF they are early:  get home a 1 or 1,5 ml needleless syringe, some good kmr or goat milk - RAW goat milk is best.   BeneBac, its a sort of probiotic, but extra good for small kittens,   and glucose sugar (dextrose).   White caro syrup if you cant find glucose

sugar proper.   Also a heating pad, and an electronic scale measuring in grammes.

Im sending our  links.

Good luck!

Goats milk is useful instead of kmr. Raw goat milk is best, but bottled full fat is OK too.

Observe, if an orphan is much bloated, gas-filled, bloated, have colic, simethicone (google on it) may help.  1-2 drop in the bottle.

Fleece or flannel good to use in the bedding for kittens.

Nearing, as its seems.  It was not SO immediate coming as we tought.  But then we thoug it was somewhat early, on day 60-61.   Which is OK but...

Now you got several days more, and she is now in the zone of  normal average delivery time.

Unless you notice something alarming - its going just OK!
