Hello guys My neighborhood is due to be torn down soon and we need to move by the end of june to the beginning of july. My cat kyra has just given birth! We moved before with a new litter and she abandoned the little ones as soon as we got to the new house :( ....what can we do to keep her from abandoning the new litter?! HELP

Where do you have your mama cat and her litter right now?

Hopefully inside. So when you move you need to keep mama and babies crated until you have a bedroom set up with familiar furniture and bedding. Do not uncrate the mom and litter until this room is set up and you can put them in a closet or corner with food, water, litter box and familiar bedding from the nest and toys. Then close the door and do not let the cat out or anyone else in.

When you are done moving, go in and spend time with her to reassure her. Hopefully this is a room you will sleep in so you are nearby for comfort. I would keep her in this room exclusively with her kittens for a few days. Eventually, you can allow her to check out the new environment, but make sure she cannot get outside.

In this manner she should adjust without too much stress and without abandoning her litter. Hope it goes well. :)

My momma cat and kitten are both in my bedroom. I really hope this works out for us! Seems like a good way to keep her close to the kittens and calm as well. Also do u think it would be a good idea to get her a calming collar or calming spray  from the pet store?

Yes! Try a Felliway plug-in diffuser. It may help to calm her. As long as you keep her safe in the bedroom and make the transition stress-free it should work out just fine!:)
