I bought a case of the rabbit last year for my cats. They liked it initially but as I continued feeding the food, they became lukewarm with it.

That doesn't mean you will have the same experience though, maybe your kitten will really like it. :)

I wasn't crazy about the cottage cheese or veggies, however, NL's is wonderful company, one of the few to offer "transparency" of their ingredients to customers:

I also like that NL's doesn't use any synthetic vitamins or minerals; I hope they can get AAFCO approval soon so as to remove the "for supplemental feeding only" on their labels.  It seems to be complete and balanced though as far as having the necessary  vitamins since there are people who have successfully used NL for both cats and dogs for years.

I'm not feeding it right now but I might be trying some eventually.  I think it's great stuff if your cats will eat it.  The company seems to be upfront and transparent about their operation.

Note that in addition to the two you mention plus a chicken variety which they have been making for some time, they are releasing 3 new varieties this summer:  turkey, sardines, and beef.  They are all listed on the web site now.  I happened to be at an event about a month ago where a rep from the company was there and gave us a brochure.

The ingredients look strange with all those different veggies listed, but they making the food without any artificially synthesized vitamins of any kind.  I think that's a good tradeoff.  Very few companies have pulled that off, and that may be part of the reason why it has the supplemental AAFCO notation.  It takes a lot of $$$ to go through the feeding trials too, and these guys are really small.  Personally, having read a lot in the last couple years about the AAFCO, I don't put so much stock in their processes for pet food anymore.

As with any new food you might not want to spring for a whole case until you're sure, although it can be hard to source smaller amounts sometimes unless a local store carries it.  There are a couple of online stores that sell single cans of some foods and may carry NL.  Only Natural Pet is one, and there's another one I can't remember that I found recently.

Very good point re: veggies and supplements or lack thereof re: the latter.  And I agree as far as AAFCO. NL food is likely "complete and balanced" despite the supplemental feeding warning as I know there are people who've fed it to their pets long terms w/o any problems.
