Let me start out by saying my wife and I have (7) cats. All of our cats receive the greatest care available. All shots, vaccinations, chipped, regular yearly check ups and trips to the vet if we feel anything out of the ordinary is going on. They eat the best dry foods and we are very selective on what they eat. Out of the (7) cats we have, only one goes outside. The other (6) are indoor only.
So Saturday morning my wife and I went out of town. All was well and normal with our cats. We returned home Sunday morning early to find our (6) year old black cat (Maxie) dead in the floor. He, nor any of our other cats have shown any signs of being sick.
When I kneeled down to look at Maxie I noticed a grayish/green (snot like) fluid bubbling out of his nostrils. It also had an odor to it that I really can't explain . I am at a loss here. Maxie was in great health (or so we thought). He had shown no signs of any sickness. I am taking him to the vets office in the morning for a post mortem exam and to have my baby boy cremated. It truly breaks my heart I was not here to save him. He will be missed greatly.
If any of you have any ideas as to what might have caused his sudden death, please let me know.

I really have no idea what happened to your kitty but I am very sorry this happened.  He was still a young kitty which makes it even harder.

I am sorry for your loss. Usually sudden death like that is something with the heart. Sometimes there are no signs at all.
It is nothing you did wrong.
