My wife and I went out of town on Saturday morning and all was well. All (7) of our cats were doing what they always do. We came home early Sunday morning to find our black kitty Maxie dead in the floor. Max was only 6 years old and wss in perfect health. There was no warning, no health problems, no indicator what so ever.
My heart is heavy with sadness as I just don't know what happened to my baby boy. I will miss him terribly and I feel like a huge void is open in my chest. Max, you were one of a kind for sure and I loved you so very much.

How awful - I'm so sorry about Max. This has to be a nightmare for you. Words can not express my sympathy for what you are going through right now.

Thank you for the kind words. I have literally been sitting on the couch crying most of the day. I'm at a total loss here. I just wish I knew what happened and i really wish I would have been here to save him. My heart hurts..

You must be devasted at such a sudden loss. I saw in your other post that you are going to take Max to the vet tomorrow to find out what happened and I think that's a great idea. In the meantime, I hope your other cats bring you some comfort though I know how very much this hurts.

Hi hkpettis. I'm very sorry for your loss, your cat, and the pain and devastation you are in right now. I know exactly the way you are feeling. It us a hell to be in. I'm just over 11 months on from my boys loss and it's still hurting me a lot and I can't believe the way it happened.

The first week will he the hardest for you. After that, everyone is different. For me personally this " it gets better with time " theory is nonsense. Everyone reacts different and for me yeah sure in some ways it does get better as I cry less, pain wasn't as strong and I could function again but in some ways I'm worse as the realisation sets in this actually happened , my boy isn't coming back. I'm starting to deal with it properly now for the first time in 11 months and it sucks. I had valium and came off that a couple of months ago but that just masked the problem and I had to deal with a lot of it during and after the withdraw stage.

Anyway I told you my story and the way i felt because I want you to know that you are not the only one who is enduring hell on earth because I imagine that's the amount of pain and disbelief you are in at this moment. I know it only just happened but know that whether it's the first day or the 1000th you are not alone, I and everyone is here for you and we understated the what ifs and hurt you are going through.

It's like losing a child. God bless you.

And I forgot to mention as messed up as it is the way you are feeling right now is normal. Non stop crying and days of not eating or doing anything is what happens to many of us after losing a baby.

I'm so sorry for your loss, a death with no notice is one that is so hard to understand and even harder to accept. My heart goes out to you and your family, Maxie will be missed and the hole in your heart will be a long time in healing. Maxie would not want you to remember him with such sorrow, surround yourself with your beautiful memories and take the comfort your remaining kitties can give to you. Please accept my condolences, I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.  RIP sweet Maxie, you will live on forever in the hearts that loved you!

I've just seen this post. I cannot imagine the shock and lack of understanding when you came home and found one of your babies had gone to rainbow bridge. You have my most sincere condolences both you and your wife.

Well we carried him to the vet first thing this morning to be checked for cause of death as well to make sure he was not contagious with anything. He was in my front seat wrapped in a blanket the whole time. I told him many, many times how much I loved him and how much I was going to miss him. My wife and I picked out a very nice walnut urn that will have a 3.5x5 picture of him on front with an engraving that has his name, birth date and death date. Then the hard part..I had to go get him out of the truck and carry him inside..that's when I fell apart totally..it was so hard to let him go but I had to..I am so full of grief and sorrow today. Let's hope tomorrow is better than today!
