"Human mothers think having a child can really mess with their eating schedule, well this Kitty mother might have you beat. She bounces from pile to pile just hoping to chow down, she doesn't even mind sharing if she has too. However, her son "Dark Smoke" (a.k.a. Smokey Jr.) aggressively kisses her every time she moves to a new pile.

She will literally move about 20 to 30 times before she resorts to hissing at the boy, and a few times more before she swipes at him. He doesn't care, he tends to not even react when she does swipe at him.

The only way she gets to eat peacefully is if he gets distracted, or he gets full. The best distraction comes from his brother "Fritz", because he likes to kiss Dark Smoke even more aggressive than the latter likes to kiss their mother; it's just a taste of his own medicine. Fritz does it far less often and might actually only do it to occasionally save his mom. Don't worry, I'll get that on video eventually too.

Also, their father "Timmy" comes by to chow down himself, so look forward to little family dinner video in the future because it's coming."

That is very funny and adorable. Thanks for sharing !! I couldn't help but wonder if the feral cats are all getting trapped and spayed/neutered in your area? I see you are in the U.S. and if you give your location we can help you find a TNR Org. if you can and are willing. Don't mean to lead your thread astray though. It is a very funny/silly video to watch.

Editing to add a link to our Feral Forum in case you want to begin a thread on your feral cats there too! http://www.thecatsite.com/f/9/caring-for-strays-and-ferals

Thank you... They are a wonderful colony.

Almost all of them are neutered now. The grants have ran out but we still feed and TNR on our own.

Along with that we provide full medical care to any meows in need inside and outside our colony :)

Smokey is such a wonderful mama.

There are a few other moms that we don't see as often. We feed their children every night.
Luckily, all of them were TNR'd. Along with all of the males that live in the surrounding areas.

Smokeys a hard catch though. She very smart and keeps her distance. She's one of the few ferals we haven't had success trapping.

I get so nervous with traps that slam shut (my Havaheart) or a drop trap because there's a two month old baby feral out there as well as the rest of the family that may be following right behind her.

This is a big community of ferals that stick together.

(Some of the vets out here will only except certain sized traps and carriers.)

I just noticed your adorable meows at the bottom of your post. (I can't see it from my phone just my computer, which I don't get too much time to be on)

Cats really are like potato chips, you can't have just one.
I also want to thank you for all of your kind advice.

I, too, get worried about the Hav-a-harts and little kittens with the door slamming down but thankfully, I have never known of a terrible incident involving a kitten. Hope to never hear of one, either. :cross: :cross: :vibes: :vibes: Keep up your incredible efforts and THANK YOU. :high5:
