Good morning.

A very British question for you today.

MIF or TIF?

For those that don't know, this means when you have a cup of tea do you put Milk In First or Tea In First?

I like my tea TIF.

Definitely TIF  (I have to admit that I don't make 'proper' tea in a teapot - its always bag in a mug for me).

I don't use milk in tea, just a bit of sugar.  I usually drink coffee and I put a little milk in it but no sugar.  I think that's one of the big differences between the U.S. and actually much of the Western Hemisphere and Europe and Asia.  On this side of the world we tend to drink coffee and Europeans and Asians tend to drink tea.  I think putting milk in tea is also a very European thing.

Milk in tea isn't my thing; I like it with lemon. Drinking tea with milk seems to be a very British/Irish habit. When I drink coffee, I pour the coffee and add cream. Hubby does the opposite.

I'm not a big tea drinker, though sometimes I will have herbal tea before bed at night.  No milk in it.  With coffee, I put the milk in first, then coffee.

I remember in college I was taken on a date to a very nice New York-style breakfast / bagel restaurant. I'm a coffee drinker but I ordered tea - to be fancy - and also that's what my date ordered. This was in Texas, where you drink sweetened ice tea, so I put sugar in my hot tea, and added some lemon. But then the waiter brought milk for the tea, so I added that too, and the lemon curdled the milk and it was pretty disgusting. I was embarrassed but my date was nice and acted like he didn't notice.

Still don't drink much hot tea, but then only with a little sugar. I do put cream in my coffee, though (no sugar) and put it MIF and heat it up, then add the coffee. I like my hot drinks piping hot.

TO(NM) - Tea Only (No Milk)

I drink tea with lunch at work every day, usually regular Lipton. Sometimes I'll bring my own tea bag, maybe an herbal blend or jasmine or oolong. The only things I will ever put in my cup of Lipton are honey and lemon, sometimes just one and sometimes both.

TIF!  That's how we always have our tea at my Grandma's!
My Gram is 100% Italian; so I don't know where she picked that up from; but that's how we've always done it!

never put milk in tea. To me it just doesn't go together. I use a bit of lemon and sometimes 1/2 of a sweet and low. I really don't like sweet drinks. To be honest I usually only have tea when I'm not feeling well or when it's cold - and here in Florida we don't have many cold days. I do like tea at the Chinese restaurant.

I love tea. My favorite is English Breakfast. Irish breakfast is a close second. DD loves her Earl Grey or English Breakfast. I have never heard of anyone making tea MIF.  Tea is the best. There's nothing better than a mug of hot tea when you don't feel well. Or when you do feel well. It's so comforting. I think I want some now.

TIF!  My Mum was English, so I grew up with a pot of tea on the table at every meal, and a few pots during the day in between as well!

Drinking tea with lemon in it sounds very continental to me.

I guess it's true what they say about the British being a nation of tea drinkers. When my brother, my sister and I still lived at home our family would easily get through a box of 100 tea-bags in a week.

I think many Americans go through an equivalent amount of coffee every week.
