Hi Mentors, my kitten is 3.5 months now. She's very energetic, eats alot, poops and pees regularly.

Last month she was about 2.5lbs and shes grown alot since then (haven't weighed her yet this month)

When she was still feeding off her mommy she was dewormed once. So im wondering how do i check for potential for worms?

Also, sometimes she scratches and bites her tail... But that might be normal since it's not excessive, but for peace of mind how do i check for fleas?

Ps. I know the vet is an option, but I'd like to know the signs and methods as well.

Unless it is a very heavy load of parasites they usually can only be found with a fecal float test done at the vet's.  It's not 100 percent due to the life cycle of the parasites but it usually will catch round worms which are the most common ones.  Kittens are usually dewormed more than once again because of the lifecycle of the parasite.

If your kitty has fleas she probably also has tapeworm.  I know one of my kitties was rescued from outside and had fleas really bad.  Only roundworms showed up on the fecal float test but the vet assumed that he also had tapeworm.  You can use a flea comb and then rub the comb over white paper.  Flea dirt will show up red on a piece of white paper.
