Good morning! And Happy Friday!

I'd like to thank LaRussa (Carol) for doing Friday's Question of the Day for the last few weeks. Rick's father passed away and while it was not completely unexpected, we were still not prepared for his death. Carol offered to do the QoTD for me and I do appreciate it. Thank you.

Tomorrow you hop in your car with a picnic basket of food and drinks and you go........where? Where would you go, if you had the choice?

I think we would go to a fairly local state park and hike the waterfalls. There are some truly beautiful waterfalls there and we've been walking the falls for years. In fact, the very first year, we were married, that summer, we stopped at the church for their delicious chicken barbecue, took everything to the park, ate lunch and then spent the afternoon hiking up and down the falls. I was very much pregnant at the time and so it was quite a hike for me. And we have visited there often since that first time. It's a beautiful place.

Where would you go?

To a nearby lake where you can rent rowboats by the hour. That would be perfect in this hot weather.

We would definitely head to the river, Tallahassee River, and enjoy the day fishing, swimming or just sitting and enjoying the day.

We love being at the river kayaking, fishing, swimming and relaxing.

Probably grab a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella, and head down to the (NJ) shore. Preferably a beach that isn't too touristy.

i'd head to a state park with hiking trails. a nice picnic lunch and then some hiking would be very nice!

since i don't drive, this wouldn't happen for me, but it's a nice thought.

Your welcome Pam, I enjoyed doing it.

I would go to a nearby park where there are lots of trees for shade.  I would bring beach chairs to sit on and just enjoy the scenery.

Correction...That would be the Tallapoosa River, not Tallahassee OOPS

I'm so sorry for Rick and your loss. Losing parents is hard. Please give him my condolences.

I wouldn't. I hate picnics and any sort of outside activities.

Gosh.... I'd want to head up into the mountains (which takes a few hours from where I live).  It's been too hot to enjoy the beaches during the day.  I suppose if the mountains are too far; we could wait till later in the day and have our picnic as a later dinner; closer to sunset.  Thats my favorite time of day on the beach.

I want just the opposite,

I love living up in the mountains but I really miss the ocean. I'd love a day at the beach. The closest nice beaches are too far for a day trip, it would have to be an overnight stay. There is a really nice resort area called Izu Hanto. The last time I went there we stayed in a hotel that had an open air hot bath on the roof, so you could sit in the water and watch the sun set over the ocean.

A picnic on the beach and then a hot bath at sunset would be so nice right now.

Lets trade!  Just for a day.  Between the heat and the crowds; I much prefer the quiet of the mountains where it's almost always cooler!

I'd head to the beach also but not during the day. At night when it's not so brutally hot and it's nice and quiet. I'd bring some wine or some margaritas and some light snacks.

@Winchester I'm very sorry for Rick's and your loss. Please pass my condolences along to him and of course, to his mother. I know what she's going through. I will never stop missing my DH.
