Help.
My mom threw away some bad liver and don't know if babies ate it.

girl is lost. Last seen 5 hrs ago. Doesn't respond to calls nor has come to eat.

Baby boy is too quiet. Curls paws. Don't know if hr may be sick.

Vets are closed.

Please help

I am sorry to hear you are going through this. Honestly, I do not know what you should do if they have eaten it or how serious it is.  The best thing you can do is probably to call your vet as soon as they open.

Has the girl ever disappeared for a while before?

She appeared! and baby boy made it through the night well and happy. Maybe he was trying to comfort me in my distress over his sister.

Thank you @tulosai  for your comment. She always comes home in the afternoon for me to feed her at the sound of the container of food shaking. I shook it all over the neighborhood and she didn't come or I saw her at all.

I think my neighbor had trapped her in his home thinking she was homeless since there are sometimes several homeless kittens around
and that when I asked him about her he pretended to have seen her "roaming around" to not get into trouble for trapping her. I also think he let her go in the night / morning when we were all asleep so we wouldn't know. By my gut says this is what happened.

Regardless of what happened, I'm just glad she's home.

I'm going to make a poster of our cats so the neighbors know they are ours and they don't take them in.

Is there someone that can close this thread since all is well?

Thank you

Do they wear collars with either writing or tags on them? Because if they don't, animal control or as this neighbor did, may decide they are strays and will keep them.

@nansiludie   I've been talking with the neighbors letting them know these are my kitties so they don't take them again and animal control doesn't really come into our neighborhood so I wouldn't worry about them. They also mostly focus on dogs.

They don't wear collars, they are going to have to be outdoor/indoor cats since my mom already even put their litter box outside
and I don't really trust having them wear a collar because they could get hurt in my neighborhood if the get stuck or something. I don't even know if there's a microchip system in Mexico, if there is, it won't be very reliable and  just a waste of time. But it just gave me the idea to call the city animal control and ask about their systems.

Do you know of any other way to ID them?

There are a lot of different safety collars that you can try. These are made to break or unbuckle if a cat gets stuck on something. You're likely to lose a few and need to replace them, but they'll keep your cats a lot safer and make it so they wear identification most of the time.

@NewYork1303  So I'll be losing several?!
I don't think I can afford that many tags. They are 3 cats. I'll have to begin saving up I guess... I don't want my baby cats to be taken away
Thank you for letting me know though... now I can start preparing several tags for each.

I'll also look into breakaway collars. I haven't seen any so far. I'll ask the stores

We had indoor/outdoor cats when I was a kid. Collars became moderately regular bush 'ornaments' :lol3: The good news is that, if you search for the lost collars you can often reuse the tags. Just make sure the collars will release in an emergency :)

We were able to retrieve several from our outdoor cat when she lost them, and depending how far the cats roam you might be able to collect them easily.  Our indoor cats wear breakaway collars and have never taken them off by themselves. But there isn't much to snag on inside.

@Columbine  Yes.... gotta find those breakaway collars! So far all I've been able to find that fits a cat is puppy collars and the store says it works for cats as well since it has paws on it
. They are not breakaway in the least sense. Some even have belt buckles as closures

@NewYork1303  I've found the baby cats don't stray far from home. They usually stay within out piece of land, the most they go out is past the fence to the neighbors home and stay under one of his trees (1 ft next to the fence).

I'm not sure if Amazon will let you ship to Mexico, but there are a lot of breakaway collars there. I would definitely look online for collars if you can't find anything around you like this. A lot of online sites offer cheaper ID tags than you can get in stores as well.

If the cats stay close to home, it may be easier with the collars. you might be able to find them in the most likely spots they'd lose them (under a porch or house for example).
