OK so I have over a week transitioned my kids from all crap purina kibble to wellness chicken canned in the 13oz cans. They despite having a very slow transition have explosive poops!!! One of the three is passing blood we don't know who!! My husband and I are disabled these are my kids I haven't slept right in a week, because I'm so worried. I have no money till the 26th of June I called every veterinarian near us none will accept payments. My credit is crap due to my ex husband I am terrified this change in food will kill my babies but I don't know what to do. My extended family doesn't understand and the ones who do care are unable to guide me. I'm the black sheep as is my husband. I did everything I could to make this transition easier I bought a 12 can case and I'm heartbroken by trying to get them healthier I may have killed them. Our oldest will be 6 months in July, middle is 3 months and our youngest we don't know we were told she's three months old but she's the size of a six week old kitten. We don't have a car and no public transportation. Please should I continue on the wellness? They drink tons play a lot but all three liquid poop and omg the smell!!

They need to see a vet immediately, blood in stool is pretty serious. Please see this article:

If you notice that they started having issues after the transition, go back to feeding their previous kibble. They will still need to see a vet as soon as you can, but until then it doesn't make sense to continue feeding them food that is giving them issues.

I have done all the calling applied for the care credit and denied immediately. My oldest two were on a wellness plan have had all there shots etc my husband lost his job and the plan lapsed I am getting them all three back on the plan the 26th. I never thought changing to a better food would harm them.

If you were feeding your babies dry food and now are giving them just wet that can be the reason for the runs but if you see blood every time then you need to get them to a vet. Also I would go back to what you were feeding before this started. good luck to you and your babies

My cat gets colitis when she has diarrhea and I see blood. She needs a higher fiber food in order not to have the runs. There are several foods for overweight cats that are higher in fiber. What I do for mine is mix the dry high fiber food with the canned food, and that works for her. Definitely get them checked by a vet as soon as you can afford it though!

Thank goodness it appears to be lessoning! They had 90% dry kibble with just enough of the canned to keep them from crying as they appear to love the wet food. I think I am going to feed them evo dry and fancy feast chicken classic. I know the fancy feast is awful but they love FF and they never had a single poop explosion while on it. Don't worry the 26th they are all going to the vet. Please just keep our kids in your prayers.

The FF classics are not awful!! A lot of people here keep them in their rotation and have very healthy cats (myself included). I'm glad to hear that they seem to be doing better. hopefully they will continue to improve until you can get them to the vet.

I am coming from having militant people practically rake me over the coals in a group I joined briefly on Facebook. They had no healthy options or opinions to give me when I started looking for a better food (transitioning off dry kibble) but the moment I bought FF classic and said my kids dove into it I got berated and told basically I was a cheap so and so who didn't care. Sorry if I offended anyone. I spent three weeks pouring over internet articles comparing ingredients etc and after being told I didn't care about my kids I left there and basically was going to hide. I love my three kitties them being sick has tore my heart out.

You won't find that kind of judgement here and I'm sorry you had to go through that.
 You didn't offend anyone.
You need to decide what to feed your cats based on what you can afford and what they will eat. If they like the FF classics, go for it. There are much worse things they could be eating The most expensive food there is really is worthless if they won't eat it. If they enjoy the FF classics (MANY cats do) and it's in your budget, it's the right food. What those people in that FB group think is irrelevant. Welcome to TCS. We're glad you're here. We'd love to see pictures of your kitties when you can. We love to see pictures of all kitties!
