i live in a apartment and i was with my mom and then we heard meowing from the basement. i went down and saw a tiny kitten about the size of my hand. i asked the doorman about this, and he said that a cat had two kittens in there but she left. so i bought food for the kitten and fed her but my mom said i had to put her in the basement again because we cant keep it. (my mom hates cats.) i decided to feed her everyday but every time she climes up the stairs and escapes. im worried that she might get hit by a car because she is too young to run fast. there is also ratsbane in the basement. i asked a pro on this and he said to just leave her alone but i could feed her and not touch her and she will go away when she is big enough. i think he is right but im still not sure on what to do. i am a middle school kid so i cannot make my own mind on if i could keep her.

Can you find out if there are any rescues in your area, and give them a ring?  Poor little thing needs to be looked after.

The gentleman did not give you very good advice.  Yes, the kitten will eventually find his way but that means he's on his own and will most likely be feral.  Feral cats are those who have never been socialized to humans and they live rough lives.

Can you ask your mom or maybe a teacher to help you find another shelter?  If your mom or another adult can keep him at leat temporarily, you can work on finding him a home.

I know its hard for you but you are doing the right thing to try to help him.

Hi and THANK you so much for finding us and coming on here to ask for advice. Not sure where you live? A general city would help, if you could? We can help find a local humane society or TNR Organization that can potentially come out and help trap the little kitten and get him and maybe the other kitten to safety. You are right by your instincts, and go against what the man told you, to know that the little one could very well be seriously injured or worse if nothing is done to catch the kittens. It is always best to help the stray cats and trap them because otherwise they will continue to breed and you will see more and more feral cats. A feral cat is one, such as this kitten, that is born in the outdoors and will have no human contact and then they will grow up to be completely fearful and untrusting of any human being. Always best to try to help them when they are kittens such as you are trying to do. Keep feeding them, if you can, some canned kitten food at a regular time of each day so it will be easier to trap them. OH I do hope you can find a local group to assist. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

(last time she got up the stairs and was in the middle of the road.) i am so worried. my town is complicated so there isnt any hope doing a search.  i am asking this- if i find her what should i do? putting her in the basement is too cruel but i dont have any other options. my mom said a no to keeping her....

Start talking to your teachers and other adults.  Ask them if they can help or if they know of anyone who can.  This is a good opportunity for your to develop resources you can use.  You sound as if this may become part of your life, especially when you get older.  Developing these resources and learning all you can will help you do a better job.

Hopefully, you can find the kitten.  Have you talked to any neighbors?  One of them may have rescued it.

where i live almost everybody hates cats around here. if they find the kitten, likely chance that if kids find her they will throw rocks and if audults find her they will ignore or tell the doorgarde to get rid of her.

I am sorry the kitten is missing. I agree that now would be the time to begin making contacts with groups that you know love cats and will be your ally in the future. You have a good heart and a willingness to want to help these stray cats. Call vets, humane societies, TNR Organizations, shelters, etc. Make a list of these so you have some good contacts and support IF you find the kitten. I surely hope so. Taking a stand for the homeless stray cats is always a good thing to do in life. I commend your efforts of wanting to try and help the cats. :vibes::vibes::vibes:

p.s. IF you can give us your general location, we would be happy to google some resources for you.

i live in korea. so no humane societies, TNR Organizations and things like that. the vets will be unwilling to take the kitten in, and the shelter will put her to sleep in 10 days. i dont think there are any groups that love cats.... my mom said the mother cat probely took the kitten away.

I understand and am sorry for you because I can tell you have a great compassion for the stray cats and wish you could have a support system in Korea to help your efforts to save and help them. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for the kitties and a big hug for your caring. :grphug: :grphug2:
