My beloved cat has passed away

This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, my 6 year old tabby SoSo was put to sleep today ...due to kidney failure ... She was wasting away .. Would not eat... Actions changed within the last week ... I feel so guilty letting her go... But she was starving herself as she was so weak and felt so bad... It's so hard to walk away and leave my love one .. She was my first pet and I miss her much... My heart is so heavy ... Tears ....

I am so sorry for your loss.  I have lost two cats to kidney disease.  It's devastating to see them go from fat and sassy to emaciated (at least that's what happened to mine).  Now I have a 3rd one with it, and know we are on borrowed time.

Please do not feel guilty about letting her go.  The greatest gift you can give is to set them free of their wasted little bodies when the time comes, even though it breaks you own heart

My condolences on your loss of SoSo. You did the kindest thing by easing her passing; it was an act of love and nothing to feel bad about.

Your beloved SoSo needed your strength to end the pain she was going through, she did not want to leave any more then you wanted to let her go. But when something is unhealable, and unending, and has no good outcome, you definitely did the only thing that was left to do. There comes a time when even the strongest heart must beat it's last, she will now live on by sharing a piece of your heart, and in your precious memories. You gave her a wonderful life full of love and happiness, and I'm sure she loved you dearly for it. Just remember, she would never want you to remember her with such pain and sadness, try not to dwell on the ending, but the years of happiness you two shared. My heart goes out to you, I'm so very sorry for the pain you are going through........RIP dear SOSO!

Thank you all for this thread. My cat is dying of kidney disease, too, and if I were not giving her fluids, she would be dead in a matter of days. She is emaciated, too, how painful that is to see, as you all have said. Yet she still snuggles with me and purrs. But will hardly eat anything.

The vet said there is no hope. I should put her down. It is the right thing to do. But as long as she's not suffering, I can't seem to do it. My relationship with my others is  being affected, and I am tired out.

Thanks for your understanding and strength. The thread gave me a lot of comfort and strength to do what I must do.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my beautiful baby 10 days ago and feel your pain. Don't feel guilty. Your baby understood and loved you. Try and think of the joy she brought you and not her life at the end. [emoji]128156[/emoji]

I am so sorry for your loss.  You did the brave thing by helping SoSo get to the other side where she could be free of illness.  I lost my beautiful soul mate on 1-19 & still cry over him several times per week.  These things take awhile to get better.  Peace to you & SoSo.
