I've noticed some unusual behaviour yesterday in my cat. he has been wheezing/breathing out sharply in bouts and has been perched on on edges of surfaces with his forearms behind him and neck extended or hanging from the edge. he will then return to normal behaviour and today is the second day. we will be going to the vet tomorrow. does it sound like asthma? I thought he had problems with hairball but I have never witnessed him cough up one before. I don't know what to do to help him, all I've been able to offer is comfort and he will lay peaceful with me for awhile until he decides to go back and heave again.

Asthma is possible. Please let us know what the vet says.

My cat was doing that and it turned out to be pnemonia.  Glad you are going to the vet.  Good luck.

I had a kitty with asthma a while back and had to treat her with an inhaler. She did fine with it. Let us know what the vet says!
