Luna started to scratch around her ears and groom all over her body much more aggressively than normal, this happened about 10 weeks ago, took her vets and tried a few different things when eventually she ended up having a long lasting steroid injection which seemed to do the job, until now, where she has started to get bald patches back in exactly the same place as before and has started over grooming..... Please can someone give me an idea of what might be the problem ..... She had regular flea treatment bought from the vets and I haven't changed anything in her diet or cat litter! It's hard for us to help with out photos.

I'd try a different vet- maybe one that specializes in cats only?. Sounds like allergies or ringworms.. I can't say for sure, only a vet can diagnose and solve.

Yes, you can. Make sure the site is set to Mobile on your phone. When you go into the block where you write text, you'll see a photo icon where you can upload from your phone

hope that helps

Did the Vet say what might have caused the issue in the first place when he initially gave her the long lasting steroid shot?  And did he say how long the shot would last?  I'm thinking 10 weeks is probably the length of the shot, and it's time for another one, UNLESS you can figure out what's causing the issue in the first place.  He probably ruled out ringworm though, didn't he?

Cats often overgroom because of stress, or food allergies which cause them to itch, particularly around their heads.  Did you try doing food trials, or did he suggest it might be food allergies.  I see you say you haven't changed food, but was that a suggestion, or did you change back then, but not since?  Is your furbaby high strung?  If so, have you tried some stress reducers like calming sprays, playing harp music, just playing with her more, or trying to eliminate whatever it is that's causing her stress (load noises, etc.)?   Sometimes it's also skin allergies, like allergies to fleas, and all it takes is one bite to cause all kinds of issues.  You said she gets regular flea treatments....have you seen ANY fleas about?

The vet said it was looking like a possible allergy to something, she said she didn't think it would ringworm as steroids wouldn't have cleared that up as its fungal! The steroid shot she said would last up to 8 weeks and it actually lasted 7. The vet has said Luna can have blood tests etc to try and find out what the allergy is but obviously these are not cheap.... So firstly it has been suggested we try doing food trials (quite difficult though as she often runs out the door so who knows what she eats out in the garden) so got the food from vets today along with another depo steroid shot to stop her itching now ..... Haven't seen any fleas around so don't think it's that..... Just getting stressed with what to try next [emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128546[/emoji]

I say go with the food trials.  What she eats out in the garden will probably NOT be something she is allergic to.  I doubt she will be eating wheat or corn or soy. (or even a chicken or cow or the like
)  She might eat a bug or something, but if she is being fed at home, she is mostly just playing outside, I would imagine.

Hopefully the new shot will kick in soon and she'll get relief.  That's the problem though...how will you know what food is working if the shot gives her relief???  What did the Vet say about that?

I did ask that but the vet said as Luna has flared up again after 6/7weeks, to do the food trials from now for at least 8 weeks and if it doesn't return then it will be the food .. So fingers crossed [emoji]128513[/emoji]

After the steroid shot yesterday, the ones on her head don't seem to b bothering her but the grooming on her back is not getting any better and is getting bigger, how long does it take for shot to work?
