Hello :)

My cat has pretty severe seasonal allergies that cause a lot of respiratory problems.

I had to get a rug, so I did a lot of research and decided on a jute rug because it's supposed to be a great choice for cats/people with respiratory problems.

I just found out, though, that jute is grass :( His sneezing and congestion is severe, but it's been severe since long before I got the rug.

Basically, I'm worried that the rug might be contributing to his sneezing. Has anyone heard of jute causing problems? Does it matter that the grass is dead rather than living?

Just bumping this up.

I can't say about the rug, but is your little one on allergy pills?  Something like Zyrtec?  I know several cats here on TCS are.

Thanks for the bump :)

Yes, he's on Zyrtec and has a couple of specialists following him.

His environment has been strictly controlled for the last year due to testing and now this darn rug is really stressing me out. I hope I'm overthinking it.

What is he eating?  Sometimes that can contribute to the severity of seasonal allergies.  Is he on anything else like quercetin or evening primrose oil?  I have a girl with severe seasonal allergies.  We put her on a strictly grain-free diet and give her daily Claritin, quercetin, and EPO.  It seems to help her.
