My cat is impossible to catch.  She hasn't even had shots because she means business.  Now she's pregnant and I want to get her fixed after we have babies.  She was given to me as a kitten but just seemed almost feral from the beginning.  She won't be tricked - I should ave named her Tabitha not Little Debbie.  I just feel like a terrible owner since I cant catch her I love her very much

I have a cat like that.  I have had to use a humane trap that I tie open.  I feed her in it (and nowhere else) for a few days.  I make the appointment and the night before or the day of, I set the trap to spring when I feed her.

It usually works well the first time.  After that, though, she gets a little wiser, although when her food is in there, she has no choice.

When I brought a feral into my home 2 years ago, I had no idea how I would get into a cat carrier.  He had already been humanely trapped and neutered, but I needed to get him to the vet for shots and a check up before he could associate with my other cat.  I purchased a mesh dog carrier.  It was on the large size and I began feeding him in this carrier.  I started by placing the food just outside the carrier then just inside the carrier and every few days I moved it until it was in the back.  I made sure to sit nearby  so that I knew he was going inside to eat.  I did this for 2 weeks to get him used to the carrier.  The morning of the appointment, I put just a tiny bit of food inside and waited for him to go to the back.  I had a board to place over the exit and then zipped him up.  I quickly covered the carrier with a sheet to calm him down.  It did work, but it took awhile to get him used to it.  If you start now, by the time she is ready for spaying, she might be used to the carrier.  In the mean time, please keep her inside.

Here is a link to the carrier I used.
