I normally do not really like posting anything that is off topic but I figured I could use some advice. Lately I've been having really bad insomnia. The type where I find it so hard to fall asleep & if I'm lucky I end up falling asleep around 4 , 5 or 6 in the morning. Sometimes it seems like to only best option is to drink NyQuil, which does help me sleep but I wake up with a tight feeling in my chest. A few months ago I was really worried about my health. I was stressing out way too much that I ended up losing sleep. Then everything was ok and I managed to get my sleep routine back without any problems. Then this week I had some problems in my relationship where I stayed up at night talking to him and after hanging up I had trouble sleeping. Now that everything is fixed between us I still had trouble sleeping. Last night after hanging up I tried to fall asleep but I jus couldn't. I did not fall asleep at all and its 7 am and I'm still awake. This is the second time it happens where I am awake all night and I have to start my day. When I was sort of falling asleep my cat decided to be annoying because she thought I needed a bath at 5 am and I lost sleep. Now my biggest concern at night is "am I going to fall asleep or should I might as well start my day". I know I am going to be very very upset throughout the day. If anyone can provide and advice/tips on how to fall asleep I would appreciate. One thing for sure is that I am going to stop talking to my significant other so late at night. It worries me so much because I know sleep is important and I've been lacking it a lot this week. I also noticed that I tend to have more trouble during the weekends. I don't go out to parties or anything. 2 weeks ago I went out of town and I had no trouble sleeping but when I came back my sleeping patterns changed and I guess that's where the problems started again. It makes me so anxious watching the clock change time and I still can't get any sleep. I'm at a point where I want to take sleeping pills but I do not want to rely on them all the time. My eyes currently feel tired, but I have to start my day

I also have a hard time sleeping at times, so I probably won't be much help. I have a hard time turning my brain off. Reading a book helps for me ata times.

Good luck. :hugs:

One thing that helps me when I have trouble getting to sleep is to put a YouTube relaxation video on. There are a lot of them, just search. The ones I listen to are like self hypnosis. Usually I fall asleep somewhere in the middle. If you listen to self hypnosis though it's best if you can turn them off when you're sure you're going to be sleeping because at the end they wake you up.  Not too helpful, that.

Also put something on TV with someone talking like a documentary or something. That puts me to sleep a lot of the time.

Try melatonin- it's in the vitamin isle and a natural supplement. It has help me a lot in the past.

I would visit the doctor asap lack of sleep can make people do strange things plus you could get in a car accident from lack of sleep. They have sleeping pills like Trazadone that I take that's also a mild antidepressant. I had this same problem went without sleep for months till I ended up having to be hospitalized for a nervous breakdown due to insomnia!
