My cat just jumped my neighbor's dog.I saw it outside and I opened the door to run it off and my oldest cat went flying out in front of me and when he saw the dog he went charging after it.It is some sort of small dog and my cat probably weighs more than she does.Anyway he ran over to her and started slapping the $hit out of her.She ran and he ran after her and started slapping her again. He was all fluffed up and I think he would have gotten her good if I hadn't went after him.
Maybe that will teach the dog to stay out of my yard.LOL.I wish those people would quit getting soooo many dogs and then letting them wander all over the neighborhood.

BTW.My neighbor's across the road(not the one's all the dogs belong to) used to have a chihuahua(they have a different one now,but they do keep their's inside except to go potty)that would come down here and pee on my tires.Me and my kitty would sometimes be out getting some fresh air and one day the dog come down here and started barking at my cat and he ran after the dog and started slapping him,the dog was yelping, and my cat ran him back across the road(I live on a dead end backroad and only 2 more people live past me)I was about to fall over from laughing at these 2.I told my neighbor's a few days later that my cat whipped their dog and they laughed and said,"well, maybe he will stay home and not come over there and pee on your tires anymore."LOL.

Crazy cat.I have sure had my excitement for the day.Between this and the bird this morning. The day is not over yet so I'm looking foward to seeing if anything else crazy happens here today.

LOL. That sounds like one of my sister's cats. He terrorized the Great Dane for years, and is now teaching the St. Bernard puppy manners, and always chases the Viszla away from her food.

Russell did the same thing.

My fiancee opened the door to go to work. He didn't even look through the flyscreen to see why Russell was so worked up. The next thing he saw was a black growling furball flying towards TWO stray dogs that were both four times the size of Russell. Both can be quite aggressive. Did Russell care? Nope. Did Russell care that he could have been breakfast for these two? Nope.

Russell didn't even get near them. The two dogs were not sure what to do. Then my fiancee went into gear, stepped outside and shooed the two dogs away. Russell was still puffed but rather proud of himself. The way he sees it, is that he protected his house.

By the time I got downstairs, he was de-puffed and meowing proudly. And doing the kitty patrol, checking things from the front window, then the bedroom window and then the window of the laundry facing the back.

And where was Esper during the drama? Sleeping at the end of the bed. She's too busy looking pretty for guard kitty duties.

LOL.Yeah he does this, too. He will run from one room to another looking out the window if there is something out there. He is how I usually know that there are some dogs out there that need running off.
He is the only one that does this.
He has run after the bigger dogs as well when we have been outside, but hasn't been able to catch them because they usually run as soon as they see me so they have a good head start.LOL.

I guess you are right, they are protecting their house.

I forgot to add that Russell is an indoor kitty since 11 weeks of age. No idea where he picked it up from.

Well mine is an inside kitty now.

I picked him up when I was in high school one day at school. He was wandering around and a few of us were petting him and I figured he belonged to someone across the road(very busy road)and was just going to leave him alone.Well, some dang freshman guy came up through there and told his buddies"Loooooook a kitty" He said it with menace in his voice.I looked at him and was like "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH THAT CAT!!!!!!!"He was like why,is it your's?" I told him yes and told my friend to go put him in my truck.I only had one more class left and it wasn't hot(I got out at 10 a.m.).So I brought him home with me.LOL.I'm a cat stealer.

Oh well,he would have probably ended up killed by stupid people at school or gotten ran over and he was COVERED in fleas,so I look at it like he is MUCH better off with me.I have had him for 6 years now.He was maybe around 1 year old or a little over when I cat napped him.

These escapades remind me of an episode at the home of a friend (Lill), who at the time had a dog (Barney) and a cat (Willy). Another of our friends (Patrick) had a Briard (French sheep dog, large, Persephone), and took the dog with him everywhere, including to Lill's. That was fine: Barney was a most congenial host -- shared his bones, even.

Picture a livingroom with a fireplace. In front of it, a rocker, a good place for a snoozing cat. Across the room, a corner sofa grouping, with a large irregularly shaped coffee table between it and the rocker. In the corner of the sofa, the least accessible spot, sits Patrick. As is her wont, Persephone, is meandering around, and passes by Willy's chair. For whatever reason, Persephone decides it would be a good idea to sniff Willy. Willy disagrees, and takes one swipe at Persephone's nose. Persephone goes straight up, pivots in the air, launches herself across the coffee table into Patrick's lap. And stays there for the rest of the evening.

I don't remember when I've laughed so hard.

I think it's hilarious that cats can scare the crap out of big dogs. My neighbor's lab is terrified of my one cat. Maya, the dog, refuses to come into the room if Faile is there. My s/o or I have to escort her past the big mean kitty.

When we lived in the country and Fred was still allowed to go out, he stayed in some bushes in the yard most of the time. The neighbor's Chow starting comeing over and peeing on Fred's bushes. One evening I heard this dog screaming, looked out the window, and Fred was riding him down the driveway like a cowboy, claws hooked into the head and back of the dog, and an ear in his mouth! Fred jumped off at he end of the driveway, and strutted back up like he was the baddest thing on the block. That dog never peed on Fred's bushes again!

These situations can get ugly - my mother tells a story of a similar circumstance. The neighbor's dog started going to the bathroom inside the house as a result of constantly getting chased and attacked by the cat.

Anyway, the neighbor had a complete fit with my mother.

It's really funny - but I do actually feel bad for the dog...
