I know this has been asked 100 times, but is my cat a RB or a Korat or Mutt?

We have had him for over 10 years.  Adopted him as a kitten from a Petsmart rescue day.  I had always thought he had some Russian Blue lineage, until I stumbled across a picture of a Korat.  He doesn't seem to fit fully into either category. Personality is more RB as he has always been very mellow and docile, even with children and he gets along with everyone.   I also checked Chartreux, but he is not stocky enough and the eyes are different.   Like the title says, I know this question has been asked 100x, but if anyone has any insight, I would certainly appreciate it.  Obviously he is different ages in the pictures, including one as a kitten with his buddy who has passed.  Also, you can not see it in the pictures, but he has developed a "dot" in his eye, that may not be a factor for either breed.

Funny, this kitty looks a lot like our cat who was also a rescue.

She's also blue with green eyes. It's always been suspected she was a russian blue mix, due to her color and the blue smile (seen on the RB, british shorthair, korat, and chartreux cats).

I'd agree he's definitely not a chartreux, as they have extremely full faces, and their eyes are normally an amber - copper color.

Korats have more of a triangular face, and green - yellow-green eyes.

Russian blues have round faces, and green eyes, like your kitty.

So it could be possible your has russian blue lineage. But it is quite unlikely.

Blue is a color that can be found in any cat breeds. It is preferred in certain registered breeds (the ones I listed above, as well as the nebelung cat), with green, amber/copper, or blue eyes, and usually completely solid,  with the exception of a white dash on their chest (locket). But any cat breed can have blue fur, as blue is also black dilute.

And since your kitty was adopted from a Petsmart, he could also be a domestic shorthair that happens to be blue.

Either way, you have a very handsome tom. :)

Beautiful cat. Russian blues have very distinctive texture to their fur - a thick undercoat and a sheen to the outercoat, which I don't see here. And their green eyes almost glow like emeralds. I would say yours is a very pretty domestic shorthair with some unusual characteristics.

That is what I was thinking, especially how he was a rescue.  I am not going to tell him he is a domestic blue short hair,  I will let him go on thinking he is more exotic than that!

What is the exact color of the eyes?  In some they looks greenish, but in one copper(?) colored.

Good post, although Im not sure I agree on the faces.  Korats have sorts of heart shaped, or double triangular.

Russians have sooner triangularish than round face...  Some compare them with a snake head - at least the scandinavian type.
