I got my 2 month old kitten from a friend earlier today and I immediately brought him to the vet. It was supposed to be for checkup and to get tips on how to take care of him since it's my first time. However only the assistant vet accomodated me, she told me that deworming is needed so I obliged. It's been almost 4 hours and all he does is sleep. He doesn't even get out of his travel bag. He only ate about 3-4 pcs of cat food and drank a tiny amount of water. I'm starting to get worried. He doesn't even started to defecate or urinate the least since I got him around 11am. Help. :/

It is not abnormal for a kitten to act this way after a trip to the vets, they are exhausted and may be having a slight reaction to the medication. Definitely put a call into the vets and insist on an answer to as why. My cat sleeps all day after his injections, refusing to eat, or even get up, and we found out he was having a slight reaction. Now Benadryl is given before and it goes much better. As long as there is SOME slight improvement, and you can get a little water down him, he should come around. It sounds to me like too much was given, I'd ask on that. If there is no improvement at all in 24 hours definitely get hold of the vet. All the luck and keep us posted!

It seems unusual that the vet didn't examine your cat. I've never had just the vet tech do the whole visit whenever I've taken my cats in for anything.

As to him being lethargic, my cats definitely are after a trip to the vet, whether they get many shots or not. I think it's the stress of the visit and they need to unwind for pretty much the rest of the day afterward.

Yes I was wondering the same thing too. I wasn't even able to talk or see him in the least even after I called for an appointment. Now that I think about it he really did have a long trip from my friend's home and I immediately brought him to the vet. His condition's better now after sleeping for a long time. Thank you!

He's feeling a lot better now I guess, after sleeping for a long time he was finally able to eat a bit and drank small quantities of water from time to time. He was able to play for a short period of time too however he got tired immediately and went to sleep again. I'm more relieved that he was able to recover after some time. Thank you!
