Woke up this morning and our cat is sneezing, seems like his nose is stuffy and he seems to be opening his mouth to breath every now and then. Can cats breath through there mouth? He doesn't feel warm and he's eating, drinking and moving around. Is there a way to tell if it's an allergy or an infection?

Cats can breathe through their mouths if their nose is clogged. That sounds like a cold to me. The vet could tell you for sure, and give meds to relieve him. My cats get mild allergies in the Spring, but not a really stuffy nose like that.

This sounds very familiar:) My cat has similar problems right now. I just shared some tips about stuffy nose and cold a few hours ago: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/298881/cold

But you should definitely take the cat to the vet if it's breathing through his mouth. It's probably nothing too serious but in case of cold (upper respiratory infection to be precise) they'll prescribe some antibiotics. An innocent cold can turn into something more serious if not treated properly.

Thank you, he's going to the vet today. I've never had a cat with such a runny nose. When I got  home yesterday I had to use warm water to clean his nose and mouth from where his nose drained all day.
