My happy place.
I thought it would be a nice idea if we could start a thread where members could upload their artwork for everyone to see.

I know there are lots of artists here on TCS.

We could talk about our styles and techniques that we use and we might even inspire other people to have a go.

So come on, weather it's painting, drawing, photography, sculpture or even just a doodle, post it here for all to see!  View media item 276602
This is Sasha keeping an eye on things, she has always liked to join me when I'm painting ever since she was a kitten.

This one was done to go above the TV. The grey area is actually silver.

I really enjoy painting abstracts as you can really let yourself go but I know they are not everyone's cup of tea.

I do have some pencil drawings too but I have to dig them out from a box in the spare room first.

What a great idea!

Really enjoyed seeing your paintings, I really love the last one Kitty :)

I am into photography.  I try to shoot something every day to keep fresh - could be anything which catches my eye and of course, the cats are always in the mix. I mostly shoot architectural, roses (and other plants), the cats (duh!), food at home and eating out, and other miscellaneous stuff like street scenes.

I also do virtual photography in a program called Second Life. I hesitate to call it a game, because it isn't.  It is amongst many things, a really good platform for artists of all types.

So, here's a few samples of both types of photography.  The ones I do in SL usually have some post production in order to get the feeling I want from it.  The real life ones, are sometimes edited but most I try not to do too much on.

First, is my avatar. I created her, too lengthy to explain here but it's taken 8 years to get her looking this good lol.

Next, is an English Daisy from my garden.

Another Second life shot, an interior.

Roses, from my garden again.

Another Second Life shot.

Here's Cocoabean :D  She's a great subject.

And one of Casper of course!

Last for now, an orchid from my home.

I'll refrain from posting too much ROFL

Can't wait to see everyone else's artwork!

Does jewellery count? I design and make gemstone and silver jewellery. It's just a hobby, but I sell a bit locally to cover costs. I'm not great at photographing it though. Here are some of the better pics:-

Chinese amber and silver necklace

Chinese amber and silver chain link necklace

Chinese amber station necklace

This was a commission from a friend. It's horse hair, white quartz and silver

Another commission for the same friend - a living locket with handmade horse hair charm (her horse had to be pts and she'd kept his tail. She'd had a traditional braided horse hair bracelet made, but she wanted something less that would stand the test of time. She already had the angel charm that's on the front.)

A rhodolite garnet and ruthenium coated silver bracelet

Apologies for the poor quality pics. I think I need some lessons from sivyaleah sivyaleah !

Wow, gorgeous stuff @KittyWhiskers! I love the aesthetic of abstract art, but it doesn't "click" with me to actually create it. I think too literally about the things I want to make, and I always want them to be "things".

I'm envious of people who create in Second Life. I do not have the patience for it at all - I tried it before, and I think experience with other softwares made me more eager to do it the way I was familiar. @sivyaleah, do you create assets or do you make animations too? I know how to make the assets, but I have no idea how animation balls are created!

@Columbine, how long do necklaces like those take you? The process looks so tedious to me, but the outcome is so beautiful. I especially love the horse hair locket.

@nansiludie, I think they do! I would like to see!

I like drawing animals, but my aim is to be a 3D animator. Unfortunately I don't have any animations worth showing yet - other than a "personality walk".

These are wonderful, I especially like the first one.

I don't create anything in Second Life except boxes ROFL.  8 years there and I never had the time to learn how to do much, other than create a fantastic avatar - thanks to the talents of the skin, hair and makeup creators.  I do have a talent for decorating. And shopping :p  If you ever decide to try it again let me know and we can meet up in world!

kittywhiskers kittywhiskers I love abstracts too. You have a fantastic eye for colour. I've never really attempted to do any myself (I'm hopeless at drawing/sketching etc do I've always assumed there's no point in trying). I might just have have a go one of these days.

sivyaleah sivyaleah Your photography is stunning. I particularly love Cocoabean's picture, and those flower pics are stunning!

pinkdagger pinkdagger That animated walk is great. It must've taken forever to do. Definitely worth it though  I'm particularly drawn to your dog sketches too...beautiful, and full of personality.

The necklaces vary a huge amount in time. The longest part, for sure, is usually the design process. I can sit and play for hours before I hit on the right design. So often, the only way is to string and unstrung the beads, as there's no other way of telling if things are going to hang right or not. The first necklace was probably the quickest - maybe 90mins start to finish. That almost designed itself on current I got started. The chain link one took maybe 3 days - each link is hand made, and I had several false starts during the design process. The worst is when I get something finished, clasped etc and then find a design flaw and have to start over.

The horse hair pieces together took maybe a month. I had to do a ton of research first. Horse hair is dreadful to work with,so just working out how to use it effectively took forever. Not an experience I wish to repeat :lol3:

I'm playing with beaded suncatchers at the moment...and maiming myself with memory wire in the process! It looks like Asha's tried to 'kill' my hand :lol3:

N nansiludie Definitely post your cat toys. I love crochet. A friend made me the most gorgeous crochet cushion cover for Christmas a couple of years ago.

I can't wait to see what other people have created :D

Oh I'm loving this thread, such beautiful creations!

@sivyaleah  your photos are amazing. I really admire people who can take good photos as this is something I'm rubbish at.

Your avatar is stunning. Can't wait to see more!

@Columbine  the jewellery you make is soooooo pretty, I love Amber, I have a few pieces of Amber jewellery. I too particularly love the horse hair locket.

My eldest daughter used to do horse riding when she was small and hubby made a little woven thingy from a single horse hair while he was waiting for her once, I will have to dig it out and take a photo.

@nansiludie  yes, of course they count. Please post pictures.

@pinkdagger  I love your drawings! particularly the parrot (apologies if it's not a parrot, I'm not good on bird breeds)  I have tried to draw pictures in a drawing programme on the computer but I just can't get the hang of it, I much prefer the feel of a real pencil.

The animation is fascinating, do they take a long time to create?

Here is a couple more from me when I had a dabble with wire, these were all made for friends.

This little bird is made from old telephone wire.

Thanks! The abstracts I posted were done particularly to go with the décor and colour scheme in my living room. You should have a go, you might even surprise yourself!

Maiming yourself with wire, yes, I've been there. I got some strange looks when going to pay when shopping because of the state of my hands!

I do 3D Graphics. Here are some of mine. I have a gallery at Renderosity.  You have to be a member to view the galleries, and there is some nudity in some of my images, so I'm posting images instead of the link to my gallery:

I do water colors, mostly landscapes, almost all of them have water on them and they are are all real places. Lately I did a portrait of my Birman cat and then one of a Maine Coon which I had to re-home. Both of those were done in colored pencil and my first attempt of an animal.

  The bridge in Avignon, France

At the finish line of "Beeer Can Races", Newport Beach, California

I sold this one, I called it "Desert Sunset"

The Golden Pagoda in Kyoto, Japan

  Hidden Lake in Glacier Park

on the way to Monument Park

  Poppy flower

and then I did a series of lighthouses from all over the world, the most unusual ones are in Korea.

  New York

  Oregon, I sold this one

  Oregon

  Korea

  Korea

   Korea

   California

   Oman

   Maine

Tillamook Rock, Oregon, gift to a friend

I have only had one class about 3 years ago but have always drawn since childhood

Last year I started an art class. By the end of the year, we did an exposition of two abstract paintings and wood carvings. I also started taking ceramic classes. This year, we are working in fabric art right now, and we finished a paper project. I did a yaguar mask in paper mache. I'Ll post pics tomorrow, as my phone doesn't work well enough for doing that.
