I have a cat who can't keep his paws off of any food he can get. He'll get into cupboards, eat bread, tortillas, chips, crackers, anything. I do EVERYTHING I can to make sure this happening, but he's so sneaky! He's used to be quite overweight and I've done a good job getting him down, but now I'm afraid he's doing this because he's hungry. I've been feeding him Fancy Feast, only the low carb ones, and no gravy. But I'm thinking I want to try something else because maybe I've not giving him enough food?

I won't have any problem with him eating something new,  he's never cared at all if I switch his food. He'll eat anything. I've been reading through these threads for 2 days now looking for advice. I would like to keep cost lower, but the only store I really have to shop for anything decent for him is Petco. (Thanks to living in ND!)

So far what I've gathered is Friskies Pate, Natural Balance or Wellnes would be some decent options, maybe? I would like to do something a step above Friskies, unless it's really pretty good? I don't know much! I've read through the whole chart on catinfo.org, that's how I originally decided on Fancy Feast a year and a half ago.

I'd appreciate any advice!

Wow , he is a clever rascal .  I guess you are very lucky that is not picky ..   Yes the Friskies pate formulas are very good . I think a decent food ..  You can also  buy  several different brands and  rotate  with the FF  since he will eat anything ..  Petco has a brand called Soulistic that is very good ..   I am sure they have a lot more ..

I wasn't ever sure about the rotating of brands. For some reason I thought it would be bad for cats, or hard on their stomachs? I have no idea where I got that! Probably just made it up! Ha! That is a good idea though. I would like to get some higher quality foods for him. He's 6, so I want to keep him healthy. So maybe rotating some better ones in with FF would be a great solution! Thanks!

You are very welcome ..  I guess rotating wet/canned foods is easier on the tummy  than rotating dry ..   Check out that Soulistic brand at Petco . It is great food . My cats are super picky .. The only wet they will eat is Fancy Feast Classic & Sheba ..
