Hello everyone! I picked up two abandoned cats that turned out to be pregnant. The one cat, Maggie, had her kittens three weeks ago and the other, Charlie, had hers last night. Maggie seems to be very maternal and Charlie, not so much. Luckily, they both have decided to live in the same cat house so Maggie seems to be showing Charlie what to do. My concern though is that because both Mom's are nursing both sets of kittens, will the much younger one's get any milk? I'm afraid the three week old one's that are much bigger will push away the smaller one's. Please help! The runt from the second set already didn't make it. :-(

In my opinion, it would be much better if you could separate the two moms into separate rooms, each with their own closet & nest.  If the kittens were the same age, sharing the litter raising wouldn't be bad, but they are too far apart and the infants will lose out.  Their mama will learn what to do very quickly as long as she has hungry kittens to care for.  Also, you may not know but the composition of cat's milk changes in response to the age of her kittens, so the younger kittens need the early milk from their mama and the older ones do not need the same concentration.

Since the first mom is more maternal, she might try to steal the other one's babies and take them to her nest if you don't make sure to keep them totally separate.
