Hi, Not sure what to do if anything..... We have two cats. One (Gizmo), had been sick with vomiting and loose stools. By the fourth morning of this, we brought Gizmo to the Vet yesterday morning. They did bloodwork (getting results Monday), and received an exam. She was not dehydrated we were told. They gave us an antibiotic liquid to give her, as well as FortiFlora to sprinkle on her wet food. We were told that cats love the taste of the FortiFlora, but were not told how much!! My husband left the bag with the packets of this on the coffee table. At 3:00 in the morning, my husband woke up, and noticed that one of our cats actually chewed through the corner of two packets that were stapled together. I know the powder itself is not harmful, but what about the packaging? Our other cat did in fact vomit last night. My husband cleaned it up, said it was chunky, but didn't look through it, not knowing at the time about what had happened.... So we don't know if the packaging was thrown up. What should we do???

Thank you

Does your vet have an emergency number or is there an emergency vet in your area that you can call?

I just got off the phone with the Animal Hospital. The receptionist spoke with the Doc, and she said that it was too late to induce vomiting... so, just to keep an eye for any strange behavior/symptoms. I'm so upset over this. Had I known that cats liked this so much, and could smell through the packaging, I would have kept it out of reach. Bad mama :(  Both cats are acting normal, and eating and drinking fine.... so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I'm glad you were able to get in touch with them! Good luck! :cross:

I probably would have left it out as well since my cat normally doesn't show much interest in things hanging around on counters, etc. :hugs:

One of my cats eats cardboard all the time, so I honestly wouldn't worry about that little amount of paper.  That same cat loves FortiFlora too
although he's never found where I keep the box of it stored.  I DO buy it by the box from Amazon to use as a topper for two of mine.  The third HATES it

Hopefully Gizmo gets to feeling better, although guess he's going to have to wait on that Fortilora till you can get some more, huh?
