We wake up about 2 weeks ago to 1 of cat's eye (we have 8 cats) twitching. Like how you would keep squinting/winking your eye if you have a hair in it.

2nd day it got worst as he kept it half shut. Opened his eye lids and the inner lids(?), which are usually white are now redish and a little swollen. His pupil is slightly dialated. Eye a little watery too.

So we got some eyedops (tobramycin) and administered a drop everyday (we missed some days though). Not long after that, his eye got better but almost simountaneously, the other eye started doing the exact same thing. Been giving him drops for a while now bug its not getting better, dont think any worst either.

But whats got me worried right now is that the exact same thing has happened to our other cat. Only 1 eye.

The only change we've made is that we brought in 3 stray kittens that visually look in perfect health. They, and the rest of the cats, are not exhibiting any of the symptoms. Only these 2 cays, who are both about 2 years old. We hand them since the where 2 weeks old.

Of course we are going to the vet as soon as he opens but we dont have much hope in him. Just want to know if you have experience with the above symptoms.

Any ideas whats goin on?

Yes, sounds like calivirus, spreads like wildfire. Is it red and dripping? The kittens probably are carriers and are asymptomatic and they don't show it. I'm very sorry about that. The Vet will probably send you home with ointment and you'll need to keep everyone separate best you can, at least the ones that are showing symptoms.

But they (not so sure about the first one but i know the 2nd one) were giving shots for calivirus before

Okay, vaccines help to reduce the infection but not entirely, especially like a flu shot in humans. It doesn't always work and the virus sometimes mutates, not sure if its the same with cats but don't see why it wouldn't be.

Calivirus symptoms were different too. See picture below. Tongue gets red spots. Picture shows the tip of tongue red...indicative of caluvirus infection.

They dont have it.

They could also have caught an URI which is pretty much a cold, do they have any runny noses or sneezing? It does manifest itself differently in different cats, the cali-virus.

Took thrm to they vet today. Just like expected. Told me to continue the eye drops and antibiotics. He said its just an inflamation. Asked how then did the other one get the same exact thing...he said he must have got it from the other one. Go figure.
