Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to what this could be - my cats nose is usually/supposed to be brown but over the last few weeks it has turned a copper colour almost like it has been stained by something?

This is before:

Here you can see it starting to develop:

And now it is like this:

The pictures don't really show it well but it is definitely noticeable in person.

I have tried seeing if it will wash/scrape gently off but nope.

He is on a diet of wet food only, grain free high quality Animonda Carny. He has been treated and cured of giardia and tritrichomonas foetus in the last few months and has been retested and is clear however cannot seem to tolerate any dry food I've tried so far, so thats a work in progress.

His nose is wet most of the time and he is healthy and in a clean environment. But I am wondering if it could be some sort of fungal thing ? He shows no signs of irritation or sore ess though.

Any thoughts or experience would be very welcome!

Thanks
-Bailey

Hi,

He is an indoor only cat and doesnt spend much time sunbathing by the windows at all (plus i dont get much sun)

Its funny because I actually ended up on that very thread awhile back.. Because in general his colour points have faded since I got him in the winter.

They used to be deep chocolate and are now more of a murky cinnamon brown, i was confused given pointed kittens should darken as they grow up but I believe he has lightened due to higher temperatures/the season as the thread explains.

Im just wondering if it is the actual fur changing colour or if something is coating the hairs or 'bleaching' them or something. Its so strange.

Is it food on his nose? Or possibly him rubbing his nose on something? Wet food is actually very good for cat health.High is moisture. So if you wanted to keep on canned food, it wouldn't be bad at all. Dry food doesn't actually clean their teeth.
