My 14 year old cat, Princess, had a slight ear infection, took her to my vet's office, but had a new vet look at her, he took her in to clean her ears, and she was quite messy at the end of it all, he put Tresaderm drops in her ear - and within an hour or so, my poor puddy can barely walk, she's hiding, won't eat, won't drink....I took her back this morning, they kept her all day, hydrated her, gave her different drops, and the tech said, yeah, she's a little better!!  Seriously?????  She's worse, she's not better at all - and she won't eat or drink.  Supposedly all of the vets at the office looked in her ear this morning and said the ear drum was intact, so it's not a ruptured ear drum, the new vet (not the one that cleaned her ears), said that the drops could have caused the 'nerve damage'.  WHAT????  When I took Princess in on Wed morning, the only thing wrong with her was a slight ear infection, and now my poor old cat can't walk or eat or drink.

Oh, my heavens - I am so sorry to hear about Princess! I am sending my sincere wishes that she makes a speedy and fully recovery. How awful for both of you! Please keep us posted.

Best regards.

If she had fluids, she probably won't drink because her body is hydrated.  Fluids can also give the kitty a "full" feeling, so she may have decreased hunger for half a day or so.  You might try offering her small feedings of classic Fancy Feast with some plain baby Pedialyte mixed in, or even plain meat baby food with some pedialyte mixed in.  Warm it up for just a few seconds to enhance the aroma.
