so I decided to spay my 5 years old cat today. I took her in the clinic 9am and picked her up 1:30pm. she was in my room (I removed everything she can climb of) but in a cage while she's recovering to the anesthesia. she was groggy, unable to stand even if she tried to get up and wants to come out of the cage. around 4pm I noticed she was panting and then at some point her tongue is sticking out! I panicked coz even though this is my first time dealing a spay, I got my male neutered but he didn't pant or anything. I phoned the clinic and I was advise to bring her back. so I did. they took her temperature and it was 40 degree celcius. she said it was probably stress due to wanting to go out of the cage. she got a pain medication injected and injectable antibiotics good for 2weeks. when I took her home again I let her be in the room instead of the cage. she was still panting and after a while it stop. now she's sleeping, getting up walk around and go back again from sleeping getting up and walking. no food and water after 8pm last night and she's allowed to eat small meals later around 6:30 pm. I'm really nervous and all until now that she might develop something not good along the way! does my situation normal? the panting and all. and any calming advice that u can give me? the vet didn't give me an e collar and said if she happen to lick or scratch, then I should bring her back. she attempts to lick or whatever she wants to do once on the incision site but I discouraged it right away. so far she didn't repeat it again.
pls pray for speedy recovery!

It's possible the panting is the result of stress, so you can help her with that by trying to calm yourself so she doesn't take on your stress, and just giving her a calm environment.  Having said that, open mouth breathing is not good, and if it doesn't resolve quickly then I would call your vet for more advice.  If she licks the incision then she needs an E collar.

yes im trying to be calm as much as I can. the panting has stopped after a few minutes of cage out and ate the small amount of food I gave her, but doesn't drink yet. she doesn't really like being kept in my room either and wants to come out but we have no choice, she needs to be confine here for like 10 days. thanks :)

I've never heard of a cat being confined for 10 days after a spay.  Can you explain?  Thanks.

I mean keeping her in a room where she can't climb on to something. I was advice to restrict her from jumping, running and climbing. and that should solve it right?

I'm sorry that should solve what?

Where I live, a female cat just spayed, the advice is to restrict from climbing or jumping for a day or two while they recover from the surgery, but normal activity shouldn't be a problem for a well sutured incision.

to solve the running, climbing jumping issues. I can't let her out of the room with so many things to climb of outside? vet here said she should at least be in a room or cage with food, water and litter box for atleast 7-10 days.

Ah i see ok.  I'm definitely not going to contradict your vet, and as a caring and responsible owner you can also use your common sense and knowledge of your cat to know what might be a risk and what might not be.
