Hi, I've just joined this site after adopting a Ragdoll Cat yesterday.
I need to go out for a few hours tomorrow and I'm hoping she will be OK. I've been with her since I picked her up yesterday.
Any advice would be wonderful as I've always been a dog owner...

Few things that may help people give advice

1. Cats age ie is it a kitten or adult even if just approximate it can help a lot

2. Do you have a safe room set up? If your worried about it being ok than having this can help a lot.

Overall though it should be fine though I know it's common to worry since I worried about everything the first time too hahha.

Yes, it would help to know you and your cat's situation. But otherwise, head on over to the Articles section of the site and you'll find tons of awesome tips and advice!

Here are a few good ones:

Also, the #1 advice that I wish I had gotten when I adopted my cat was what to feed my cat. So I would spend time to look up Cat Nutrition and come to a opinion on what is best for your cat and what is doable for you. But most would agree that with any food, meat protein should be the #1 ingredient. As well, a can of wet food a day helps to combat things like UTIs and kidney disease if you plan to do a dry food diet.

I would also take your new cat to a vet for a wellness check soon.

Ms Snuggles is 6.
She was a neglected Cat.
My bedroom is her safe place I've discovered as she goes in there when startled ... which is good because I've got a big bed she can snuggle and snooze on [emoji]128515[/emoji]

She was vet checked, vaccinated, desexed, wormed and microchiped before I got her. The Foster carer gave me the food she eats and Kitty litter she uses. Also a blanket and play toys she loves [emoji]128515[/emoji]

That's great that you have toys and blankets for her already! How nice! It's good she came from a Foster carer, so I bet you could talk to them about your kitty's behaviour if you have any questions and they will probably know if anything is out of the ordinary :) (Of course, only if it's possible to contact them).

I did take my cat to the vet right away when I adopted him but he was from a shelter and shelters are not the best place in terms of health and sanitation. Turns out, he had ear mites! So if she was checked by the vet a few months ago, I would consider getting her checked again just in case. But if it was fairly recent, then I think holding off on a check up is fine.

And while I was searching for articles, I found the goldmine:

But anyway, if you have any more questions, everyone at TCS is very friendly and very helpful! So ask away :)

Thank you so much for your help.
She was at the vet last week. She suffers anxiety so I've been watching her closely... today she's slept peacefully opening her eyes to look at me and then goes back to sleep. She's eating and drinking well, and using the Kitty litter so I'm really happy :D
