Can SEB be given in food with the following:  digestive enzymes/probiotic; egg yolk lecithin; and Metameucil?  and do I need to be concerned about giving this in the AM if kitty gets prednisolone and pepcid in the evening?

I give Rube SEB + probiotic + digestive enzyme + egg yolk lethicin by syringe 30 minutes before his evening meal.  Because SEB can interfere with medication, the suggestion is to give it at least two hours separate from any medication.  The digestive enzyme that I am giving Rube does have some probiotic in it but I noticed that Provobial has different strains of probiotics that what is in the digestive enzymes so I give him both.  He's had no upset stomach or diarrhea.

Hi myrnafaye !

From a prominent, reliable and most-respected site:

http:// Slippery Elm Bark Cautions

Do not give slippery elm bark at the same time as any other medications or supplements - as University of Maryland Medical Center explains, it can inhibit the absorption of the medications.  It is therefore best to give it 1-2 hours before or after any other medications (especially antibiotics), and ideally on an empty stomach, although it is safe to sprinkle it on food if you wish.

Slippery elm bark also contains calcium, so it is probably safer not to use it if your cat has hypercalcaemia.

well, Im kinda screwed, then, because Obi gets supplements or medications at each one of his three meals...EYL, psyllium and probiotic in AM; EYL in afternoon; and pred at bedtime - all with food.  Any additional thoughts?

I've given mine at the same time and never experienced a problem. But I'm not giving a MEDICATION. The probiotics, digestive enzymes and EYL continued to do what they were supposed to do.
