So this past feb my cat nook had a sore on side of his mouth. He was due for his annual too so I brought him to the vet. He received a clean bill of health, the dr wasn't sure what the sore was from but gave him a shot of antibiotics and told me to watch it.

It went away up until a few weeks ago when it came back with a vengeance! It never seems to bother him but it looks like it SHOULD be sore. So I brought him to the vet today and he had no idea what it is. We did another shot of antibiotics and he gave me something to clean it with and recommended having nook put under anesthesia so they cut of a piece for biopsy.

This is going to be quite expensive so I decided to see how it goes with keeping it clean and the antibiotic again.

But I wanted to see if anyone has ever seen anything like this? If it comes back again I'm going to get a second opinion before putting nook (and my wallet) thru such a traumatic event.

Oh my, that does look painful. I assume the vet inspected the inside of the mouth and teeth and found no issues? That is unusual. Can you pinpoint some pattern regarding the 2 times that it happened? Perhaps certain people, plants, cleaning agents, etc. that could have triggered it in both occasions?

That's the thing, I can't think of anything. He's an indoor cat so he's exposed to most of the same things daily. I've had him almost 2 years and the first appearance of the sore was this feb!

It sure looks like it SHOULD hurt but he doesn't even flinch when I clean it

Gingerlee, were you able to get a diagnosis? I just found what looks to be the exact sore on the side of my cat's mouth. My vet is on vacation until Monday.
