Peony's limping, every time she walks one her back left leg her back hunches. Does it sound like a cat bite?

It's really impossible to say without examining the cat.  Is this a feral?  If the cat will allow you to handle her, try to look for evidence of a bite.  If there is a bite, it should be thoroughly cleaned with an antiseptic solution made for cats.  Cats can sprain, and even break, a leg in a fight, so that's something else to consider.  If the limp isn't better soon (in my experience, sprains heal pretty quickly), if it worsens, or if there are any changes in behavior in the meantime (loss of appetite, etc.), I would get her to the vet asap.

Hope she feels better soon!

She's a family cat but she's indoor/outdoor. I've tried to feel around her hurt leg, every time I get to around the ankle (or cat equivalent to the qnkle, idk) she tries to bite me so I'm guessing that's where it is..I think it's a cat bite because last time she had a bite her back got hunched the same way. But i just thought of the fact that last time she also started out limpimg a little and it evantually became a barely able to walk limp. She can still walk, just it's hard for her to jump because it's her back leg that's hurt.

Cat bites can get infected really quickly, there is a lot of nasty bacteria in cat saliva. If your not able to clean the bite yourself it would be a good idea to take her to a vet. She might need antibiotics.

Try telling my mom. If I could drive and had the money peony would have been to the vet two days ago...

Most of today she was stayed pretty much the same place but tonight she's been walking around a little. I found a rose thorn onte ground and I'm wondering if that's the problem, I'll keep an eye on her..

I don't know what you've tried, but if you get someone to help you, and wrap the front half of Peony in a big towel like a burrito (make sure she can still breathe of course!) and have that other person hold her front end you might be able to get a look at that back leg. Just an idea.

I hope she feels better soon!

I've tried that, but she fights against it and in doing so she gets her hind legs under the towel...

So I've been googling stuff and getting paranoid, and she might be diabetic. In that case, my parents are unwilling to care for her and we'll have to put her down. Although maybe we can find a shelter or something willing to take care of her.

Peony, will you stop getting sick and hurt?

Diabetes is hard to diagnose just by Googling the symptoms. Unless Peony is really sick I wouldn't scare myself by looking things up on line like that.

Does she seem sick? How is her cat bite now?

She doesn't seem sick, she was playing with a stinkbug last night, but she stumbles getting out of the litter box and she has a hard time getting six inches up onto a pillow.

Hi,

I wouldn't suggest you wrap her in a towel. as that might scare her. just gently pet her , make her feel comfortable and while you are petting her , gently lift her fur in the opposite direction from the growth and look for a bite wound. Don't expect to find a big hole with blood oozing from it. it could just be a small bump on her skin with a tiny puncture on top. if you find the wound , clean it with some antiseptic and apply antibiotic topical cream.

in case you don't find an open wound, try putting a warm compress on her back. take some old towel or rag, warm it up with an iron, make sure its not hot! then gently put it on where you think the cat has pain. be ever so gentle. try not to startle the cat. do it a few times. and see if that helps.

As long as your cat is eating fine and is active . there's nothing to get panic about.

She's as active as she could be with an injured leg..
We're calling a vet today, finally, to have a look at Peony. wafer wafer , why do I feel like you're a vet yourself? :)

That's great. Getting her checked by a vet is really the best thing you could do.

I am not a vet. I just have a cat that gets into trouble. A LOT. so I've learned some quick first aid for cat bites and minor sprains and wounds. :)

Hope Peony gets better soon.

Same here. I've had Peony for 2 years and this is the third tike she's been pronounced vet-worthy by my parents.
The first time, she was a kitten. We'd had her for 2 months one morning I found her in the crate we had made for her that she never went in. She was crouching with her nose swollen weirdly and pressed to the ground. It was a week, maybe more of this, before my mom finally decided we should take her to the vet. Second time, last summer, she had a bite on her front leg. It started as a limp, got worse, we finally took her to the vet and got antibiotics the day before we went to Outer Banks for a week.

You need to sit down with your. Mum and have a quiet serious talk with her that the cat is your cat and if she's not well the sooner she goes to vet the cheaper the bill.

Some cats are just more accident prone than others. I have cats that have only ever been to the vet to be spayed and have their vaccines, I have others that need to be taken in every few months.

Tell your Mum that the vet's bill are usually a lot less if you can take the cat in as soon as possible. Once an injury has been left to get infected or an illness has gone beyond the initial stages the cat needs more medication, sometimes even needs to stay at the vets overnight. It's best to nip these things in the bud.

Hope everything goes well at the vets with Peony.
