Hello! I am quite new here and just want to tell you about my kitten. He is a large(ish), slender, handsome, tabby/lynx point.

He right now is 12 weeks old, and weighs about 6 pounds. He is very lively and talkative. He loves to just meow, forever, and ever.

We got him on the 27th of April, from someone who's cat got out of the house, and got pregnant by a barn cat. His mother was a very pretty Half Siamese, fourth Persian/Ragdoll. The father is unknown. Frosty was raised on a farm so he is not afraid of big animals and dogs. His old owner said he loves to climb trees, and he really does! He loves climbing and sitting on the top of my gerbil tank (20 gal with screen lid). He doesn't mind fish, he like gerbils and toys better.

Right now he is eating Purina Kitten Chow, along with a few other little treats. He comes to his name, plays fetch, walks on a leash, ect. I swear he is a DOG. But I love him anyway. I wouldn't trade him in for the world. He is my sunshine.

The reason why we named him Frosty is because my old cat, Jingle is named after a Christmas song, Jingle Bells.

Jingle lived to be almost 21 years old. He was an outdoor cat all his life (but during cold winters, sicknesses, really hot summer days, he would come inside). Yes I know he is an outdoor cat, I know the dangers. But he didn't die from getting hit by a car, cat/dog fights, people, ect. He lived and only died of Pancreatic Problems, at age 20. He had probably the happiest life a cat could as for, he had a loving family, and of course freedom. He died earlier this year and that's why I got Frosty.

Frosty is also going to one day be an outdoor cat, just like his big brother, and hopefully he will live to be just as long.

Yeah.

Thanks for reading?

He's gorgeous, but the world didn't have as many cars 20 years ago, nor drivers using cell phones. Why can't he be inside? You could always build him a cattery. [emoji]128513[/emoji]

True. He can't live inside because he is practically a barn cat. He gets depressed if he is inside too long (more then 8 hours), I feel its not fair to him. (Jingle was inside due to the fact that we found him as a stray kitten, and he hated being inside. He loved being inside the last month or so of his life) I take him on walks almost daily just to let him explore and know his boundaries.

Jingle lived in this neighborhood (were I live now) for almost 9 years, never got hit by a car. Sure he was older and wiser but still. We also are going to give him full access to the garage, where he has is own little area in the corner that has a normal bed, litter box, heated bed (inside a box with air holes and insulation), food, water, ect. He has been trained (just like Jingle) to come back to the house/person. I involves rolling of the tongue (very high pitched and loud) so it can travel a bit further. He is also going to be locked in the garage at night just to make sure he is safe. I get the dangers.

:D

If you let him roam please get him fixed this will reduce the diseases he may get and unwanted kittens and spraying!
Yes he is going to be fixed, don't want him to be spraying, creating kittens, ect. He right now isn't old enough to get fixed so we have to wait till September/August. The vet said he needs to be about 6 months. He has his chip in and always wears his collar.

Good luck with him, I had a cat that lived to 18 going out and had a wonderful life. I also had another that disappeared and I was heartbroken. I decided to keep my girl in after 6 years of going out because I realized I couldn't stand it if I lost her. The boys range is much greater than the girls also.[emoji]10084[/emoji]️[emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji]️

Hhahah Thank You! he did mine too!

I just finished building a 48 sq foot 3 level cat condo for him. He is a spoiled rotten boy. I am planning on painted it cranberry red and white in a few weeks.

My previous cat was outdoors a lot. she did just fine. Lived to be about 21. she was a smartie and extra cautious.

Welcome. Frosty is adorable. I just lost one of my babies who was an inside/outside cat. I understand the heartache, but I also understand the need for freedom. I have  two more who are inside / outside and one, my DD little girl who is inside only. It would kill her if anything happened to her baby.

I am sorry about your loss, Jingle died this winter, and I understand the pain. He was the cat I grew up with, I never knew a day without him...but he will always be in my heart. I bought a star and named it after him, so that wherever I am he will always be watching over me. :heart3:

He has full access to the garage, and in the garage he has a 48 sq foot home. It has 3 levels, top floor is bedroom, middle is kitchen, bottom is bathroom/play room. I put the litter at the bottom because it will (if any come into the backyard or garage) stop racoons and possums. It is caged like a bunny hut on the first 2 levels, but in his bedroom it is insulated and in the winter will have a pet safe heating pad. At night I will lock him in there to make sure he is safe.

That's awesome. I never thought about buying a star. That would be a wonderful tribute. I'm sure Frosty loves his new home and all the room he has to explore.

There are other ideas for tributes:

Buying a small/large statue of a cat and place it in your backyard or shelf. If it is in your backyard make a garden section into your kitty's garden. Name it, plant beautiful flowers, etc

Or even look up some toy makers, and find someone that makes affordable custom pet stuffed animals.

Feel free to add your ideas

He's beautiful!

My cats all used to be feral, so it's impossible to make them indoor only cats. I lost a few of the cats I loved the most, so I decided to make a big outdoor enclosure for the ones I have now. Like Bonepicker said, the World isn't as safe as it was 20 years ago, but there are still ways your cat can enjoy the great outdoors without getting into danger. Your very lucky that Frosty will walk on a harness, I wish my cats would do that..
