Thank you very one for all the advice. I just found out that one of my other cats has crystals. Looks like I am going to have to switch to some form of wet food for my cats. Is the walmart brand special kitty and ok wet food?
Oh I am sorry to hear that . I hope he feels better soon ..  Yes I think Special Kitty wet would be just fine ..  It is decent wet food and affordable ..

C catmom4 I just want to say how great it is that you're taking so much trouble to find the best diet for your cats despite budget restrictions. It would be so easy to just stick with kibble, but I can tell you're putting a ton of research into find the best foods that are within budget

Thank you all for answer and help. I appreciate it. We are going to add some friskies into there diet. They will most likely get some dry to suppliment but will defiantly be getting at least 50% wet.

When i was going thru a extremely hard financial situation and had to cut $ i started going to Sam's and buying the huge cases of canned. Its around $20 for 48 cans. My 3 cats only ate half a can 2x a day. The worst canned on the market is better then the best dry. I live in Chattanooga and we have 2 Petco's in this area. Fortunelty for me one of them doesnt get much business. I went in there last week and got 200 cans of GF canned for $45! Bought HUGE bag of Nature's Variety for the dog and it was $12. Same brand for the cats and i paid $8. Thats worth a try!

Is 9 lives any good? Its so cheap. Right now a 4 pack is on sale for $1.25. I never hear anybody feeding it. One of our boys had his first UTI last month. So trying to find inexpensive wet food. I have 7(all rescues) to feed.

I would say the meaty paté 9 lives doesn't look too bad for a budget food. It does have a little rice, but it's right before the vits and mins so it really doesn't make up a high proportion of the food. The hearty cuts and tender morsels varieties look to be significantly higher carb though, so steer clear of them if you can. Any wet is better than dry for flutd/uti cats though.

are those 5.5 oz cans? if so, that's a good price, but the Special Kitty at Walmart is a slightly better deal at 22 oz for $1
