Hi everyone!! ^.^  This is Pumpkin and I got him at the shelter a few months ago. He's 6 months old now and his papers say he's a domestic shorthair mix. Obviously he's pretty fluffy and I'm guessing he has a bit of Maine Coon in him? He's got good-sized paws and he is almost the size of my adult female already. Just wanting some outside opinions on what everyone thinks. I added 2 pictures. Oh and sorry about the mess. We just got back from a trip. Thanks; your input is appreciated!

He is obviously no shorthair.  That fluffy tail forbids it.   Medium perhaps?  It depend on the fur lengh- if medium or long, how do you yourself deem it?

But he was perhaps not so hairy as young kitten, when you got him?

Domestic mix is of course correct.  Withouth clear proofs, they cant say he is surely a MCO mix.  They can hint it, to get an adopter more interested, but they can no way put it down onto papper.

So his exact ancestry we cant know.  And there IS something called for longhaired domestics, they are quite common...

Also, mind you.  The MCO are renown, and indirectly, their natural population cousins from which they were purebred from.   That is why we do have so many "somewhat look alike"

. But down in Germany they are proud of their Longhaired German cat.  We have a couple of breeders of them as our Members.  And there were not so few german immigrants to the States, no?   some of they could perhaps take along their cat no?

THESE genes are also floating around....
