i have a concern about my cat if you can help, my cat is very lovely and is very caring sometimes to much. and she loves to be pet, but she had kittens and now the two are 6 weeks old and i have a feeling she doesn't care for them anymore. i showered the cats because she clearly doesn't want to care for them anymore. they even cry for her a lot and all she does is look at them and walk away, they drink a little water from time to time but i don't know why she doesn't feed them anymore. it gets me thinking does she even care, and another thing, she doesn't hiss at them but when she plays with them she plays aggressively. she sometimes hurts them and they run away from her. but even though they do that they always come back wanting love and she doesnt give them. i feel bad for them and i think there even depressed. when there mother doesnt give them love they come to me and my sisters which is really hard for me to bare even. i really need answers soon, please help.

You cannot force the mother cat to love her kittens, but what you CAN do is make sure that YOU play with them lots and give them much love and affection. It is sad the mom is done with them, but at 6 weeks old they can survive without her.

Do you give them kitten chow and wet food to eat throughout the day and evening? And some kitten formula to drink? They need good nourishment to grow.

Also, have you considered getting the mama cat spayed so she does not produce litter after litter?

Good luck to you and enjoy your kittens! :)

PS: I just realized that you posted this on someone else's old thread. Please start a new thread just for you and your cats! :)

Do they eat or drink someting other than water??   If not, you must help them with get going with such!

Also, I agree with SArthur excellent post.

Good luck!

How is mom's health?  Is she eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally herself?  Just had a thought that maybe she isn't feeling well.  This would explain her lackluster reaction to her kittens.  Are her breasts heavy with milk or is she nursing at all that you can see?
